US HRC Steel prices continue to rise by $14 a
short ton
NEW YORK (Scrap
Register): United States hot
rolled cold (HRC) steel prices
continued to rise by $14 a short ton or 2.1% week-on-week to $678 a short
ton in the week ended April 17th this year, as per the latest figures released
by the The Steel Index (TSI).
According to TSI, spot HR coil prices in the US Midwest strengthened a further $14 a short ton
last week as suppliers maintained price discipline in the wake of recent list price increases.
One buyer described recent upward movements in coil pricing as relentless, noting long
delivery lead-times were supporting price rises. TSI’s delivery lead-time indicator averaged 5.6
weeks (from order), over the past 5 days.
