6. The poison lurking in your plastic water bottle! A Potentially deadly toxin is being absorbed into bottled mineral water from their plastic containers. And the longer the water is stored, the levels of poison increase, research reveals. As the sell-by date on many bottled waters is up to two years, scientists have now called for extensive further studies. Courtesy: INDIAN YOUTH SECURED ORGANISATION Karimnagar-(A.P),

26. As the BP Macondo well is finally shut down -- we all hope -- the Gulf of Mexico can begin to recover from damage created by the 4.9 million barrels of oil (205,800,000 gallons) which poured into the waters over nearly three months. Scientific teams for the government Deepwater Horizon Response, which have steadily increased their calculations of the total flow of crude over the three month gusher, now estimate that 53,000 barrels of oil per day were leaking from BP's well immediately preceding its closure. According to the government press release, they think that at the beginning of the spill 62,000 barrels of oil per day were leaking from the well. "Not all of this oil and gas flowed into the ocean," says the release, because "containment activities conducted by BP ... captured approximately 800,000 barrels of oil prior to the capping of the well." The NY Times calculated that these estimates would make this spill far bigger than the 3.3 million barrels spilled by the Mexican rig Ixtoc I in 1979, previously believed to be the world's largest accidental release of oil Courtesy: INDIAN YOUTH SECURED ORGANISATION Karimnagar-(A.P),

41. The map of early warning signs clearly illustrates the global nature of climate changes. In its 2001 assessment, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that, an increasing body of observations gives a collective picture of a warming world and other changes in the climate system." where the science is strongest—exhibit the highest density of indicators, scientists have made a great effort in recent years to document the early impacts of global warming on other continents. Our map update reflects this emerging knowledge from all parts of the world. Although factors other than climate may have intensified the severity of some of the events on the map, scientists predict such problems will increase if emissions of heat-trapping gases are not brought under control due to the different types of chemicals usage in improper manner. 42. Climate change is the biggest threat to nature and Humanity in the 21st century. The biggest threat Climate change is everywhere Today we are seeing the impacts of climate change around the globe - melting glaciers, rising sea levels, stronger storms, higher floods, less snow north and more drought south. While individual events cannot be proof of serious climate change, multiple events, observations in nature, and observations by people living close to nature tell the full story.
