New peering service enables direct voice traffic exchange between providers

              offering a “one stop shop” for all voice solutions



    Mumbai, India – September 23, 2009 – Tata Communications, a
    leading provider of a new world of communications announced,
    today, an enhanced Voice Peering Solution, which enables direct
    voice traffic exchange between providers. This unique and turn-key
    platform provides easy access to Tata Communications’ network
    anywhere in the world, including the choice to use any type of
    interconnections, which offers more value and flexibility than the
    peering hub offering available today. The voice peering solution also
    offers easy access to a complete and shared database of on-net
    numbers and access to one of the most advanced intelligent routing
    engine. By expanding the pool of on-net users, Tata
    Communications’ Voice Peering solution helps deliver immense
    value to the service providers, including reduced overhead costs
    related with termination and settlement, improved voice quality by
    avoiding unnecessary transcoding, and by enabling innovative new
    business models that deliver a competitive edge.

     Voice peering allows the direct traffic exchange between service
    providers that have access to end users. Parties involved unite their
    network of end users to create large “on-net” communities. Tata
    Communications’ new Voice Peering service provides a simple and
    seamless solution for rolling out these new peering relationships,
    with end-to-end management to terminate on-net traffic and off-net
    traffic to the last mile.

 Several important benefits to the customer will be realized with this
new Voice Peering service, specifically in regards to voice quality,
cost efficiencies and the simplification of international traffic
management. Voice quality is enhanced because with Voice
Peering, on-net calls terminate directly to the end-user, thereby
reducing call latency and avoiding multiple compressions and
decompressions. A frequently updated database of subscriber
numbers from suppliers ensures proper call routing. Furthermore,
Voice Peering enables reduced settlement overhead and costs,
increasing the customer’s margin. Finally, routing table’s
management is simplified because Tata Communications provides a
global end-to-end solution, removing the need to build and manage
one-on-one relationships with a peering community.
