OVERVIEW

Hiep & Associates Law Firm (HALF) is one of the
professional law firms operating in the field of legal advice
on investment; international commerce; corporate; merger
& acquisition; banking & finance; capital markets; real
estate; energy; telecommunications; contract; intellectual
property; litigation…and was recognized as one of the
leading law firms in Vietnam. HALF was founded in early
2006 by Mr Ngo Van Hiep/Attorney, LLM - who has had
nearly twenty years of experience in learning, teaching and
working in the above fields for until fields for until the
time of the establishment of HALF.
Personnel of HALF are including attorneys, jurists, experts and collaborators. They are the
elite persons and officially trained at the leading universities in abroad and domestic, rich of reality
experience and being closely, dedicated with the legal profession, achieved academic certificates
such as Dr., LLM, MBA, BFM, Ba......
Since its inception, HALF has direction and goals to strive for professional activity in order
to bring clients the legal services with high concentration of gray matter in the range of experts,
according to international standards with competitive fees. The development of HALF has been

HISTORY

History of the Hiep & Associates Law Firm (HALF)
is a long story about the will, energy, determination and spirit
of the tireless work of the Chairman and Partners of HALF.
Nearly a decade, dozens of men and women were able to
jointly participate in the great adventure to create, nurture and
develop a professional law firm operating under the standards
of the regional and International.
Before our law firm was founded, there was a man
with a dream. Mr. Ngo Van Hiep, born and raised in Hanoi,
Northern of Vietnam, has served in the military and then go
to college by motorcycle to start the school year before receiving Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of
Foreign Language and then Master of Business Law.
In the early years, besides the attorneys, jurists, experts and collaborators of Vietnamese are
practicing in HALF, HALF also received cooperation and assistance of attorneys and law firms
abroad. This cooperation is based on the principle of equality and orientation to legitimate interests
of each party. We realize that this cooperation is very valuable and meaningful, most importantly in
the context of Vietnam to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO) integration into the World
economy. This cooperation is one of the factors driving the growth of HALF and thus attracts more
capital investment from Asia and the Pacific, Europe and North America in Vietnam.
Before our law firm was founded, Mr. Ngo Van Hiep has become one of those who pass the
rigorous exam National is held by the Ministry of Justice to get the attorneys certificate. He get it so
that we can open a law firm in Hanoi. Then, we have one of the first office in Germany as we wish
to expand operations to Europe, in the development process to become a professional law firm in
Vietnam.
By the end of 2009, we have become law firms use more than 10 attorneys. We also nearly
doubled that number in over a year later. To make a difference in the market to provide legal
services as well as to keep up international integration process, we focused than ever to quality and
system to maintain our professional standards.

Our Quality Focus
For us, to manage and develop Hiep & Associates
Law Firm (HALF) by international standards, we focus on
quality. The fact that even today there are some differences
in how the law practices at the local and the other countries
in the world. However, there are some general criteria for
determining that a law firm operating under the international
standards.
Professional activity; high qualified; hard working,
dedication; elegant cultural behavior ... These criteria of the
attorneys in HALF is not only expressed in working time in the office but also in working time out
of office. All of these criteria make handling capabilities and quality of our services at a new level
when compared with other providers of legal services in Vietnam today.
At HALF, nearly 10 years, we have taken the lead in quality control on the basis of
compliance with international standards. We know what needs to be and do anything to meet the
expectations of clients while providing legal services to them not only in Vietnam but also in other
country in the World that it is differ not only in the legal system but also in culture.
Quality Starts from Personnel
The focus on quality of us starting from personnel. As you know, the personnel we recruit,
train and collaborate are outstanding individuals, on the basis that they can provide intelligent
solutions to help clients in the best, they are directly improve the quality of our services and bring
efficiency to clients. Therefore, we have identified specific criteria to assess this potential to
complement best people for us.
We understand that the attorneys are the wisdom person, high self-esteem, respect and
responsibility to each other. Therefore, every year, we invested a considerable sum of money, not
only for the training and retraining for attorneys in HALF but also to our collaborators in different
regions to encourage them to form personal relationships. This is important because it directly
affects the quality and service delivery.
Define Clearly Standards
We define the standard, quality, and clear accountability for practice. Our report practice to
provide specific guidance on how we work together, what we expect from each other. Standards and
accountability will help us ensure that the choice of attorney form client is right. Standards and
accountability not only be applied at the head office of HALF but also applied to the collaborators
and attorneys work in offices directly under us.
We take responsibility and abide by professional ethics when providing services to clients in
the agency proceedings, administrative agencies and the public. To do that, we set the model of
professional activities. Responsibility and professional ethics, adopted by the Vietnam Bar
Federation, is the basic standards for the operation of our practice. However, in case the standard of
local government more stringent, we will apply them.
The practice according to our standards are constantly reviewed and updated by a responsible
section. We have a - Director responsible for the entire time to monitor, inspect, urge and help us
implement them in a uniform way.

PERSONEL

From two attorneys originally worked with foreign
attorneys, so far, personnel of HALF had grown to nearly
20 people including attorneys, jurists, experts and
collaborators. A number attorney of HALF had worked at
the reputation law firms at abroad and domestic since the
Vietnam made innovation policy, and is recognized as one
of the leading attorneys in Vietnam.
Our personnel are the elite person and educated at
top universities in abroad and domestic. Our attorneys
strive to cultivate knowledge and accumulated experience
to provide legal services with high levels of intelligence in
the range of experts for clients.

RESEARCH

1. Introduction
Besides activities consulting and legal assistance to
clients, Hiep & Associates Law Firm (HALF) interested
in investing for activity of scientific research legal. It can
be said that at present, HALF is one of the few law firms
in Vietnam interest and investment in this area.
Firstly, scientific research activities of HALF is
aimed at increasing knowledge of legal for attorneys,
jurists and experts so they can support clients in the best
way. On the other hand, the activities of scientific
research of HALF towards contributing to gradually
improve the legal system of Vietnam in the context of
Vietnam joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), integration the economy in the world. In the
coming time, scientific research activity of HALF will be invest. Therefore, attorneys, jurists and
experts of HALF on the form not only the titles but also the must be a real legal experts meet the
standards area and gradually reach the international standard.
2. Research situation
Besides of internal research issues, HALF always towards research programs concerning
Vietnamese law and international according to demand of organizations and individuals inside and
outside the country.
At present, the research-intensive fields of HALF may be said that is investment, commerce,
taxation, banking - finance and intellectual property. In the above fields, study law relating to
investment and international commerce is a strong point of HALF.
3. Innovations
Although in the process of shaping and developing but so far, attorneys, jurists and experts
of HALF made a number of articles, thematic Published in magazines specialized law as the
Legislative Research; Democrats - Law; Supreme People's Court; Legal ..... legal issues such as: (i)
Need to establish the attorneys nationwide; (ii) The regime of compensation for being falsely -

Regulations must reflect the spirit of the labor law; (ix) Finished financial compensation for breach
of contract business, trade.
Besides attorneys, jurists and experts of HALF is always positive, actively participating in
training, discussion, scientific conferences Legal organized by Jopso; Danina; Star Project;
Legislation Committee - Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam (VCCI); The Law and
Vietnamese - French; Institute of Justice; Hanoi Bar Association; Vietnam Bar Association;

organizations ... to contribute opinions, legal opinions through all speeches for complete the legal
system of Vietnam.

western Hanoi. Traffic here is very convenient, handy for
