entrepreneurs!
entrepreneurship.waketech.edu
Wake Tech partnered with Wells Fargo to create the Center for Entrepreneurship—to help
entrepreneurs get the training and support they need to make their ideas take shape, and to foster
local enterprise and economic growth.
The Center’s mission is to transform economic and workforce growth in our community by facilitating
the establishment, growth, and success of new and existing small businesses and entrepreneurs.
We strive to awaken the entrepreneurial mindset in everyone, to produce an energized and creative
workforce that will boost economic development throughout our community.
Courses and Programs:
Planning the Entrepreneurial Venture (PEV)
Develop a complete business plan for starting and running your new or
existing business. Work at your own pace in this blended learning course
of online content and classroom meetings as you assess your ability as
an entrepreneur; evaluate the feasibility of your business venture; and
research, develop, and write a comprehensive plan for your small business.
The online course content is available to students for a full six months.
Build Your Business: Step by Step
An alternative to the popular PEV class, this course offers a practical
step-by-step approach to starting a business. It includes assessment of
personal skills and abilities, alignment of personal goals to business goals,
well-defined steps for business start-up, writing a business plan, and
understanding and monitoring cash flow. Software is available to facilitate
preparation of the business plan.
Sales for People Who Need Customers
This course covers basic sales techniques, from the initial introduction stage
through closing the business and building relationships, using role-plays
and other adult learning techniques to facilitate the learning process.
Using Social Media to Supercharge Your Business
Social media is a perfect tool for small business owners and entrepreneurs,
who usually have little discretionary cash for promoting their businesses in
the early days. This course will provide participants with basic knowledge
about a variety of social media tools and how to use them most effectively.
Scholarship funds are available:
Thanks to support from Wells Fargo, we can
offer need-based, full and partial scholarships
for all Center for Entrepreneurship classes.

Frequently Asked Questions
I want to sign up for a class, but it is not listed
in the online schedule. How do I register for it?
If you don’t see a specific class section in the online
schedule, that is because the class is not accepting
registrations at this time. The class may be full, or
may not be offered at this time. Contact us for more
information about the class, and when it may be offered
again in the future.
I didn’t receive a confirmation email when I
registered for a class. How do I update my
contact information?
It is the student’s responsibility to update any changes
to contact information (email, home address). Student
information is not automatically updated when a new
course registration is received. To make changes to
your student record, you must complete a Student
Permanent Records Change Form, which can be
downloaded from our website. The forms should be
signed and then sent to the CE Registrar’s Office.
I am paying for someone else to take a class.
What do I need to do?
If you are paying for someone else, such as an employer
paying on behalf of an employee, you will want to
use Sponsorship Billing. Sponsorship Billing ensures
refunds, if necessary, are issued to the payer rather than
the student. (Please note that online registration is not
currently available for Sponsorship Billing.) If you are
interested in setting up a sponsorship, please contact
the CE Registrar’s Office at 919-335-1044. If not, you
may continue with online registration and any refund
will be issued directly to the student.
When can I register?
Registration for Continuing Education classes is
ongoing throughout the year. If a class appears in the
online schedule, that means space is still available and
the class is open for registration. Registrations are
processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the
minimum number of students necessary for classes to
be held, we encourage you to sign up at least one week
before the class starts. Enrollments after the start date
of the class are not eligible for a full refund.

Returned Registration
Registration forms and checks may be returned to you if a class is full or canceled. We cannot hold your payment
for another class.
Withdrawals and Refunds
The College will refund 100% of registration fees if you officially withdraw from the class before the first class meeting.
The College will refund 75% of tuition (site, facility and lab fees are non-refundable) if you officially withdraw from the
class on the first day of class or before the class reaches the 10% point of the scheduled class hours. To receive a refund,
a student must officially withdraw from class and request a refund in writing. Refund request forms are available on
our website, at each class site, and requests may also be made by letter. If a class is canceled or full, WTCC will issue a
full refund. No request is necessary. Please contact the Continuing Education department for additional information.
Refunds are processed on a monthly basis; however, please allow 4-6 weeks to receive the refund. The College refund
policy is established by state legislative action and is subject to change without prior notice.
Transfer Policy
Transfers from one course to another within a semester are allowed only until the 10% date of scheduled class hours in
both courses and must be requested in writing. Transfers from one semester to another are not allowed.
Repeat Policy
Legislative requirements state that “students who take an occupational extension course more than twice within a
five-year period shall pay their cost for the course based on the amount of funds generated by a student membership
hour of occupational extension multiplied by the number of actual hours the class is to be taught.” Students may
repeat an occupational extension course more than once if the repetitions are required for certifications, licensure or
recertification. Contact the Continuing Education Registrar’s office for more information at 919-335-1044.
Disability Support and Accommodations
For detailed information on documentation guidelines and DSS policies and procedures, visit:
disabilityservices.waketech.edu or call 919-866-5670 (TTY 779-0668).
Parking
Students taking any course that lasts longer than one week at Main, Health Sciences, Public Safety, Western Wake, or
Northern Wake campuses must pay a $5 campus access fee each semester for access to all campuses. Parking decals, deck
entry cards, and parking passes (where applicable) are available on each campus from the cashier or front desk.
Important Reminders
1. ONLY students registered for a continuing education course are authorized to attend.
2. Students must be 18 years of age or older and not attending high school to register for Wake Tech Community College
Continuing Education classes.
3. Students 16-18 years old who are in good academic standing and have the written permission of their high school
principal may register for classes on a space-available basis. Home-schooled students may register for classes with a
notarized letter.
4. Persons under age 16 may not register.
