We transform desktops into secure, controlled and well managed user workspaces.“This allows IT to deliver context aware access (who I am, where I am, what device I am using at what time the day or night I am accessing Corp data). This personal workspace is dynamically composed upon-logon. (it does not exist until you log on-not static)
<With this slide tell a brief history of RES Software plus some key facts>RES Software was founded in 1999, when a specific customer expressed the need to simplify and improve Citrix maintenance. From this beginning, RES Software has maintained close ties with a strong technical community. This technical community consists of people who combine a good understanding of our products with excellent insight into the challenges that our customers face. Their valuable feedback provides us with opportunities to enhance and improve our products. This is one of the ways in which we apply our principle 'For customers, with customers.‘Founded in 1999Privately owned and profitable104 employees (per January 1st 2010)Subsidiaries in 8 countriesEurope and NA More than 2,500 customers worldwide More than 1,000,000 licenses soldStrong Focus on Development & Support 100% Indirect Sales Model18 distributors worldwideapprox. 120 authorized resellers worldwide

User State virtualization uitleggen
Workspace Models allow the IT administrator to control what parts of User Workspace Management are being used to compose the user workspace without touching other parts on the desktop.
To get from the current desktop state to managed User Workspaces without impacting users, information about how desktops are used today is essential. This information can be gathered in the form of desktop samples. These samples are created by the Desktop Sampler, which runs unobtrusively as a standalone component, on users’ desktops. These samples contain encrypted information on available desktop items and context of the user. These samples are stored in a central location. The Workspace Designer, which is a part of the Management Console, helps the IT professional set up User Workspaces. First, the IT professional sets up how context should be established. The Workspace Designer will analyze the context information in the desktop samples and suggests suitable rules to establish context. Now the IT professional can start creating workspace items. The IT professional picks a category of desktop items and picks one item out of the list (from most common to least common) of found desktop items. The Workspace Designer compares each possible context with the actual desktop samples and analyses:Which users have access and would keep itWhich users have access but would lose accessWhich users would get access without having access todayThis information allows the IT professional to pick the right set of suggested access rules. The Workspace Designer creates and configures the new workspace item, based on the selected desktop item and the selected access rules. The Workspace Model, which is a part of the Management Console, enables the IT professional to control which parts of the User Workspace will be composed and secured by the Workspace Composer. These managed workspace items will co-exist on a user’s desktop with all the unmanaged workspace items so any possible impact will be minimized. A mix of different Workspace Models can be used to accommodate different types of users and desktops.By using the Desktop Sampler, the Workspace Designer, and the Workspace Model together, the IT professional is able to transform desktops to managed user workspaces step-by-step, with a clear understanding of the effects of each action taken.
