On the 19th of September, 2009, Nomad Ink–together with Positivo University–realized the design event, GOT MERZ in Curitiba, Brazil. The name means: GOT (Glorification of Tendencies) and MERZ (tribute to Dada artist Kurt Schwitters.) The night set out to question (and smash) tendencies, and was carried out in three distinct movements. CURRENT SLIDE PRESENTATION one. Nomad Ink (Curitiba) Speech Cross Cultural design studio working internationally. The speech deals with two things. It speaks of the avant garde in Europe (1909-1950), Kurt Schwitters and THE RING. Secondly, it aims to create a parallel through personal experience, exploring trends, tendencies and ultimately cultural identity through design. A variety of other designers weigh in their opinions on the topic as well. www.nomadink.com two. Hugo Werner (Belo Horizonte) Speech Creative director and teacher. Graduated in Graphic Design and Motion Design, the Art Center College of Design in California. A presentation about some of his personal projects and inspirations. It addresses issues of memory and materiality. Books of process images as time marks, souvenirs, etc. Presents work related to collage (the work of the avant-garde: Ernst, Schwitters, Moholy-Nagy, Höch ...) as well as cinemagraphic montages and their parallels to design. www.hugowerner.com three. DOOMEDO (Sao Paulo) Performance Audio/Visual Launch of the alter ego of four members of well known Brazilian design studios: Colletivo and Animatório. DOOMEDO was born as a creative exercise. The goal of DOOMEDO is to visualy question, exploring all that is dark, schizophrenic, and contradictory. The work happens through collage, text, illustrations and photographs, as well as sound editing. A project that was born from unrest. The exploration of the vanguard in visual projects. www.flickr.com/photos/doomedo Nomad Ink would like to thank Renato Bertão of Positivo University, Hugo Werner, the four knights of DOOMEDO, Lara Jacoski, Grafset, Inventário and Amora Mia.
