2. About Lisa
After graduating from UMass-Amherst, I began a
20-year career as an Environmental Police Officer. I also
have a Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield
State University. I served as the President of my union, the
Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers Association,
and successfully handled contract negotiations, labor
relations, grievances and safety issues.
My first business was Pioneer Valley Balloons, a
commercial hot air balloon business where I have
maintained a perfect safety record every year since its
inception in 1999. With a business partner, I purchased the
Northampton Airport in 2004. We've grown the flight
school, started a summer youth flying program, and added
many new hangars and services. Since 2009, I have also
been a co-owner of a new restaurant in Easthampton,
Venus and the Cellar Bar.
I served on the board of the Ward 3 Neighborhood
Association from its beginning until 2006, and have been a
Conservation Commissioner for Northampton since 2007. I
believe in our neighborhood and work hard to make it safe,
comfortable, and economically strong.
I also volunteer for Labs4Rescue, a non-profit
organization working to place labs and lab mixes into
permanent homes.
