Rev. Knight pointing out where to find the Ten Commandments in his church.
Rev. Knight Lays Down the Law!
As part of the R.E. curriculum, Year 4 have been studying aspects of The Old
Testament. After learning that the Bible is like a library of books that is divided into two
parts, they made creation wheels and listened to some of the stories of the Old
Testament. On a wet, Wednesday afternoon last week, the children walked to Leyland
Road Church and worked alongside Rev. Knight. He explained about the Ten
Commandments, their meaning and how they were given to Moses on tablets of stone.
We all agreed that rules play a very important part in our lives and the children worked
in groups studying, illustrating and creating their own set of rules.

Alex and Erin!
Now to this week’s competition.
C.S. Lewis was born on 29 November 1898. Lewis, an Irish author and scholar, is best known for his series ‘The Chronicles of
Narnia’. This week’s competition is to create your own book cover for one of the Narnia stories. Remember to include the
title and the author. If you want to include some blurb you can create a back cover as well!
Pop your entries in the competition post box, outside the hall, by the morning of Wednesday 1st
December with your name
and class on the back.

All Souls Dramatic Club 2010 Costume Design Competition (Issue 3)
Abbie recently went along to All Souls Dramatic Club and received a VIP pass to Dame
and 2 tickets to see Sleeping Beauty as well as a certificate. For those of you that can’t
quite place issue 3 of our newsletter, the competition was to design a fabulous blue and
silver costume for their pantomime dame to wear at the ball in their January production of
Sleeping Beauty.
Abbie was up against some stiff competition with 12 other schools taking part.
Congratulations Abbie!

Lost Property
We have several children's watches in our lost
property, an ipod shuffle, keys, a pair of children’s
glasses, earrings and jewellery.
If you think you or your child may have lost any of
these items, please call in at the school office.
After School Activities
In line with our Missing Child Policy we will always
ring you to see
where your child is if they have not turned up for
an after school activity.
Please don't let your child sign up if they are not
willing to attend every week.
However, if your child is not going to be
participating in an activity it is
vitally important that you let the teacher know.
You can either send in a
letter, ring or email
admin.norwood@schools.sefton.gov.uk
Please be aware teachers cannot commence any
of the activities until
they know children are safe in your care. A lot of
unnecessary time
is wasted lately trying to locate missing children!
Southport Lifeboat Charity
Fern, Darcy, Harry & Thea, of the School Council,
are pictured with this super photograph of the
Southport Lifeboat. It was presented with thanks
to the school for the wonderful support we gave
to this local charity, last academic year.
School Meals
Catering staff will be unable to work in the kitchen from
Monday 29th to prepare food and this is where we will
need your support.
Children who usually pay for hot dinners will have to bring
in a packed lunch for possibly several weeks until the
kitchen can be re-opened.
We really do appreciate it is not an ideal time especially
during the cold weather season when a choice of a hot
meal is preferable.
We are able to provide children having free meals with a
packed lunch as these can be brought in from another
dispatch kitchen in the area.
We apologise for the inconvenience this is likely to cause
and really hope it won't be for too long.
