on any part of the premises.
Parking during Christmas Productions
Please do not park over anyone’s drive when coming to your child’s Christmas play. Neighbours will
ring the office, give your registration number and you will need to move your car urgently. This
would result in you missing some of the performance. To avoid this and any embarrassment, please
park your car with consideration. Please remind other family members if they are coming too. There
is an unofficial one way system in operation in the crescent entering from Meols Cop end and exiting
from Roe Lane end.

4. Royal Visitor
On Thursday 25th November, Year 4, dressed in their best
Tudor finery, eagerly awaited the arrival of King Henry V111.
As he entered,
he was welcomed to a fanfare of drums, cymbals and bells by
his loyal Norwood subjects.
King Henry gave the children a rare insight into the daily life of
Hampton Court and patiently listened to and answered their
questions. Disappointed by Hans Holbein’s portrait of his
fourth wife, Henry commissioned Year 4 to draw sketches of
him to hang on the walls in the Great Hall.
Prior to the visit, soup was prepared in the kitchen (actually
Year 4 central area) in case the King was hungry. Daniel
Mercer-Jones, the King’s official servant and taster, checked
that the soup hadn’t been poisoned. Fortunately he lived to tell
the tale.
What a responsibility! Daniel checking the
soup for poison!
Models, Models and More Models!
As part of their extended Tudor Homework Year 4 were
asked to make a Tudor model, draw sketches of their
design, write a diary and prepare a short presentation.
The response was overwhelming. Amongst the models
were, knights in shining armour with swords, shields and
daggers, Tudor mansions, cottages and even streets.
Castles made from wood, card, paper with draw bridges
and flags and peg dolls dressed in costume. There were
gory executions, a knot garden and even a replica of the
Mary Rose, to name but a few.
Parents were invited after school to view the models and
celebrate the hard work of the children.

really enjoyed their time at school
Q. How much of your time is taken up by being a Governor?
(Finn Cromack Y3)

work in the office at Leyland Road Methodist Church.
Reverend Knight is very generous and lets me play out! (He is
a very nice man really!!)

6. Children in Need
Year 6 children with Mrs Goulden produced these lovely boards for Asda's Children in Need Day. (They were on display in
Asda in the main trolley bay) The School Council would like to say a very, very big thank you to everyone for the wonderful
way you have supported this appeal. The baking day in school and the scrumptious designer Pudsey Bear biscuits you
made for the biscuit sale, enabled us to present a cheque for the amazing amount of £452.
We also had a super response to the collection of unwanted clothes, as over 115 bags were collected and delivered to Asda.
Thank you for your extreme generosity.

Norwood Singing Club
Last Saturday Norwood Singing Club started their
annual festive tour by wowing Birkdale village
with a selection of Christmas songs both old and
new. They got the loudest cheer of the day- all
their hard work has obviously paid off! We would
like to thank the Mums and Dads for giving up
time at the weekend to support them. The
children will be continuing their tour at tonight's
Christmas Fair followed by a trip to Tesco's to
spread some festive cheer.
