It keeps you focused on what needs to be done to get what you say you want.
It is one thing to say that you want a particular thing. But, you still have to do the work. You still have to pay the price by just doing it. For example, one of the projects in support of your purpose as a successful business owner could be to buy a new computer to help grow your business. Choosing to bring your lunch rather than spending money at a restaurant or café is a better choice. By doing the mathematics you quickly see that you will save quite a bit of money. By saving that money you will get your new computer that much faster.
You can make choices about what you are doing consciously, knowing that every little bit helps.
Smaller tasks done more often are more effective in reaching your goals than larger projects done less frequently. Even if a larger project places you in front of more people, it still is not as effective as more frequent , smaller contacts.
If you are like most people you start out a new project with enthusiasm, then lose focus as you get caught up in the day to day operations of your business.
You might want to set up weekly goals fro yourself. Make an agreement to accomplish some tasks before your next appointment.
Put up reminder notes in your home or office to keep your purpose front and center.
Some tasks that you think will take a long time, actually will not take that much time after you figure out the actual time they do take.
I always take work with me when I go on appointments. I can read a business article, review my appointments for the next day, or make a quick cell phone call in those times that would go wasted. If you are really brave and crazy you can make cell phone calls when you are driving to your next appointment.
Play a game with yourself and even reward yourself when you have done one of those necessary but not fun tasks.
I bought a new home recently and many people tell me how lucky I am to live there. But, luck had nothing to do with it. Obeying the Lord, trusting in what he has given me and working hard got me the new home.
