Evaluation (how does your media product
1. EVALUATION - (How does your media product represent particular social groups?)
2. Front cover I have used two ordinary people on the cover of my magazine to attract working class people to the magazine as they have made it to success The price shows that working class people can afford it as it is only £2.99
3. Contents page I have used certain bands and prizes on my contents page to appeal to indie rock fans like the foo fighters, muse, paramore, the white stripes and Metallica I have used prizes such as gig tickets and signed guitars this would also appeal to indie rock fans.
4. Feature article The image is of sam and natalie together in a tree, they seem like normal friends who are having fun taking pictures and the clothes they are wearing dont seem expensive so they seem like normal people and not like celebrities. They dont wear jewellery that is flamboyant so they dont look like they are wasting money on ridiculous clothes
5. Feature article cont. The way the characters talk is just like normal people as Sam talks about going to see a Newcastle united game, half of the working class people watch football in this country and it will excite them when they hear that a famous singer likes to go to football just like them.
6. Women in the media Marjorie Ferguson identified four types of facial expression in the cover photos in British women's magazines: Chocolate box- half or full smile, shows uniqueness Invitational- emphasis on eyes, shows hint of contact rather than sexual promise Super smile- full smile, show the big come on approach Romantic or sexual In my magazine Natalie uses chocolate box to show her individuality
7. competition My magazine would compete with Q or Kerrang as the audiences are the same, they have the same genre and Q and kerrang are two of the most competitive magazines in the music industry so i would like to think i could compete with them. The magazines are both read by working class people and indie/rock fans so my audience is exactly the same.
