2. As the election is the pivotal in determining the
future of the country. Security remains the
biggest challenge facing the election in
Nigeria.
I expect the voters to have taken into serious
consideration the core security and safety issues
typically associated with this event. In order to
provide a safe and conducive environment
and minimize the disruption of their civic right.
3. Here are some tips that may be helpful to
those that the polling station.
4. Be conscious of what you wear. Dress
properly, wear cloth that is comfortable
and can allow you move, run, and jump
freely. And avoid putting on tight clothes
or cloth from any political party.
Do not get involve in debating or arguing
with anybody about the parties or their
candidates. Such argument may lead to
violent.
5. It’s good you know people around and
ask question when necessary.
Make sure you have emergency numbers
on you cell phone, especially the contact
of the
DPO or Police station nearest to you.
6. You should also have a intimate
knowledge of the polling area, and be
aware of various routes, shortcuts, dead
ends, canals and any other factors that
might affect you when violence
approaches. Knowledge of the hazards
and legitimate activities in the area is also
required, so as not to run out of the frying
pan into fire.
7. In case of violence approaching, make
sure you know the direction where it is
coming from than take the other way.
Be observant and report any suspicious
person(s) or movement around the area
to the security agent.
8. Person(s) that have no business at the polling
station should not be allowed to hang around
the area. Any person without his/her voters
card, or without any proper means of
identification should be drive out of the area.
Report any individual who appear to be
under the influence of alcohol or controlled
substance, and also; unusual activity, unusual
group of people, disorderly individuals, or
quarrels in the area.
9. Observe and report any person dressing
inappropriately, i.e. person wearing
clothes that does not match with the
weather condition at that particular time,
like someone wearing overall coat,
raincoat, trench coat, sweater or jacket in
a hot or sunny weather.
Report any suspicious objects or materials
around the environment.
Don't approach a suspicious person(s)
alone.
