- Psycho

- Fight Club
- Shallow Grave
3. The film Itself
Genre
- Drama
Who and what is it about?
- Some guy and his problems controlling his split personality
Where is it set?
- Present day, normal urban area
What are the themes?
- Sinister themes, confusion, dark comedy
What is the message?
- It is an eye-opener into the struggles people may face whilst having a mental illness
with a slight comical tone to not make it as depressing.
Why would the target audience like it?
- There are plot twists, for example, at the beginning you wouldn’t expect the man to
have any sort of illness. There will be dramatic scenes and the storyline is quite mature
but also some comical elements which will make it appear to a wider range of people.

4. The opening sequence
How does it relate to the rest of the film?
- It foreshadows events to come in the film. It sets the tone and hints the severity of the mans illness.
Does it signify the genre?
- It does as there will be dramatic scenes that could potentially happen in real life, it deals with a real issue but there will be a
dark joke which will make it clear that is isn’t really dark and depressing.
Does it introduce the character and setting?
- It introduces the character in the sense that we find out he has a mental illness, however we know nothing else about him
which the audience will hopefully find intriguing. We plan on filming mainly in a park and mainly at a bus stop.
What happens?
- We are introduced to the main character and his other personality at a bench. The man then leaves and walks to a bus stop
where a random commuter tries to make conversation, we then learn more about the other personality. He will then get
on the bus and goes to meet his girlfriend at her house. The darker side then starts to become more evident where he
eventually lashes out.
What is the style/mood?
- Disturbing and dark with comedy.
Does it demonstrate skills in terms of dialogue, continuity and lighting?
- Yeah, the dialogue is a major feature in our opening. Continuity will be a major thing as the cloning effect depends upon
this.
Is it an interesting or engaging idea?
- Yeah because it is original and will leave the audience with many questions
5. Practicalities
Actors
- We have decided that the five characters can be played amongst four actors.
Location
- A bench in a park somewhere and maybe at a bus stop. Both of these are easy to find.
Mise En Scene
- We have plans for a wide variety of camera shots to make the film more interesting to view. Most of the
facial expressions will be confusion but the double will have a bit of a smug look. The costume will be
ordinary, as will the props as this is supposed to illustrate every-day life.
Technical Sound Effects, Camera, Lighting and Editing
- Lighting effects: We may have a filter
- Special effects: The clone effect and fading
- Sound effects: Voiceovers and re-dubbing things if we are filming outside
TITLES:
- The titles we are aiming for are simple and impactful. They will mostly be black and white and they will not
be as in your face as the titles may be in an action film as our aim isn’t going to be to build up tension.

6. Practicalities Part Two:
Music
- Instrumental, upbeat perhaps.
Time
- Working out the shots and editing will take the longest amount of time.
Not as much time will needed to actually film, perhaps one day.
BUDGET
- We don’t need to spend any money, maybe on food if we are filming
in the town but the costumes will be things we already have.
The film is very smart, it is achievable as we have already worked out how
we will edit. The storyline and actors are also already worked out.
