- Welcome to the after dinner activity. We are going to cover three things in the next 15 minutes. In a minute I’m going to be asking you to use your mobile phone so please turn them on and switch them to silent.So, we are going to be having a think about our own big ideas for CfE, then we will have a quiz (there might even be prizes?) and we will finsih up by talking about opportunity.Firstly lets talk about ideas...
- ...Some ideas just don’t work or are just pointless, such as this Japanese noodle cooler....
- ...some ideas do solve problems, like the nodding head effect when you fall asleep on the train, but they never really catch on!What we do know is that its the small ideas that change things....
- ...I want you to use your phone to email me your idea to this address. We are going to collect all of the ideas on a website that I’ll show you in a minute and hopefully there will be a chance to follow some of them up in more detail?OK, email away – remember to keep your messages fairly short and (light heartedly) remember we know which phone your answer came from!Lets have a look at the responses – Go to website: http://cfeideas.blogspot.com/ (Click on the Lego man to activate hyperlink)
- Some great ideas there – thank you very much. You might also be interested in the technology that we used to gather the responses – its free and has some potential in schools.As you looked through the suggestions you might have thought to yourself, ‘we are doing that already?’. That might be the case.One of the problems of a big organisation like LTS is that quite often people work in ‘jam jars’ and we don’t spend enough time talking to each other about our projects and sharing good practice.I’m commited to challengeing this and we have a;lready made so steps to break down these silos. For example the GLOW Team and the iCT in Education Team now work closer together as a result of an office re-shuffel. We are also about to appoint some new GLOW development offiers but they will be part of the CfE Team.So, how well do you know LTS?...
- Finally....Have a look at this video. If you have seen this before, please don’t say anything. Do this by yourself,don’t talk about it with anyone else.Its a counting exercise. You have to count how many times someone in a white t-shirt passes and catches a ball. White t-shirts only. If someone in a black t-shirt catches the ball that doesn’t count. (Play video by clicking on it....at end of video...)OK who counted 5 passes or more?...Who counted 10 or more?...15?...20?...How many did you get?Who saw the Gorilla?I can’t believe you didn’t see the gorilla – you will see him this time.
