2. 1905 Main Street and new terraces at Lonsdale terrace and Vale View . The railway in 1849 made it attractive for commuting. Look for the train and the new swimming baths
3. Broomfield Chemist shop on the left and Harding’s store on the right. Cobbles for the pavement, but no kerbs . Horse riders use to ride right up to the post box to post their letters. Notice no railings
4. The Station hotel, then the Royal Hotel was brought by St Bees School in 1888. Can you see the tuck shop?
5. The telegraph hut at the Seacote Beach – a submarine cable laid in 1859, to the Isle of Man 36 miles long. Two more cables were added in 1875 and 1885.
