means “seems like, looks like, like
something/someone, I hear/heard”
● Expresses speakers conjectures on what
they have seen or heard

3. Examples
● あの話し方よしらしいよ。
“That way of speaking is like Yoshi’s”
● 日本人らしい
“Japanese person-like”

4. Usage of Noun and らしい
● After ーらしいis appended, it is treated
as an ーいadjective.
o Example:
日本人らしい(like a Japanese person)
日本人らしくない(not like a Japanese
person)
日本人らしかった(was like a Japanese
person)
