5. ABSTRACT/ SUMMARY
In this report we have focused on our topic, Health Psychology; Stress coping and well
being. We determined stress along with the mind and body issue.
We also studied the ‘Immune System’ and its process and discovered a new branch of
Psychology ‘Psychoneuronmunology’. We identified stressors, their types and some diseases
related to it.
We found a significant change in the phenomenon of before and now. We found that,
previously, disease were seen as a purely Biological phenomenon and Psychological factors were
of little interest. But, now!
Major diseases such as Cancer and Diabetes are chronic illness.
Finally we got the answer to:
When does a person gets stressed and how?
6. INTRODUCTION

with determining stress, we identified stressors and their types.
“So Much To Do, So Little Time to do it”
The writer has very beautifully assembled the words in the Prologue. This basically demonstrates
the factorial picture of the cause of stress.
The purpose of the report is to complete the assigned task as well as to discover a new branch of
science, ‘Psychoneuronmunology’
We studied the immune system and its process and answer the question:
When a person gets stressed and how?
The scope of this report is very likely to every individual as all of us experience stress
and are also required to deal with it. We form an understanding of the Mind and Body issue and
try to relate it also in the real life.
7. REVIEW OF LITERATURE
The prescribed reading guides us through a number of ways:
By looking ahead, we study stress and its coping techniques.
We analyzed the high cost of stress in the course of stress and examined some theories
such as the ‘General Adaptation Syndrome’ model.
The subject matter derives by discovering a new branch of Psychology,
‘Psychoneuronmunology’ and by studying the ‘Immune system’ and its process.
We also came to know about the state of ‘learned helplessness’ and Identifying the cause
of stress and diseases related to it.
Finally, by going through the reading, we came to know to resolve the conflict by
understanding the concept of the ‘Mind and Body’ issue.

9. DATA ANALYSIS
The research questionnaire included important questions such as:
• What is Health Psychology?
• What is stress and its coping?
• Describe the Mind and Body Issue?
We found out that:
By discussion, we found out that the interviewee, who was a professional, accepted the
fact that, now, diseases are more concerned with the mind and body issues. Their has
been a significant change in the previous school of thought.
Earlier disease was seen as a purely biological phenomenon and psychological factors
were of little interest. But now,
Major causes of death, such as a heart disease, cancer and diabetes are chronic illness.
10. RECOMMENDATION/SUGGESTION
My recommendations in this report are mostly concerned with Health Psychology; stress
coping and well being.
Understanding the ‘Mind and Body’ issue can prove to be very beneficial for an
individual and he may cope up with stress in a better manner.
Do not use drugs:
While reacting to stress most of the times people use drugs, like smoking and alcoholism.
These are deadly diseases.
Using drugs may give a relief for a temporary time but may indulge the person in a
disease too, so better avoid these activities.
Likewise we cure our body, in case of an injury, the same way we also need to heal our
mind in a proper manner. This we can only do if we are not in the stage of ‘learned helplessness’.
