This document discusses the prerequisites for deploying OpenStack. It notes that businesses must be willing to change and embrace virtualization and automation. Technically, a minimum practical scale is needed starting at 5 servers for proof of concept and scaling up to 40+ servers for production. The datacenter also needs to be made "cloud ready" with networking, power, and equipment designed for cloud workloads and operations.
