Are At That Place Already Too Many Ham Car Radio
Networks?
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him shall
not perish but have everlasting life. These are more than words to Christians. This is our creed; we
are not our own anymore we were bought with a price. That price was Jesus Christ dying for our sins
and not our sins only but the sins of the world.
The UCF icom radio Club is holding its semi-annual radio tailgate flea market on the Univ. of Central
Florida Campus, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, starting at 6:30 AM. No admission charge is noted. Check
the link for maps and more information.
D-Star - This networks takes the EchoLink network even one step further. As long as your radio is
connected to your computer - this network adds the capability to transmit data files. Here's the neat
part. No internet connection or the internet is down? No problem - d-Star can handle the data
transfer all via radio! And this network is also FREE!
Learn some weather prediction skills. One of the biggest dangers on the water is sudden wind
changes. Wind can make kayaking very difficult to impossible at times. Learn how to view the clouds
and what they mean. Pay attention to the stories from your area about what to look for for wind or
for rain. Get licensed for icom marine radio to listen to the forecasts and be able to communicate to
other mariners about the weather. Local kayak centers often provide short courses in the local
weather patterns and what to look for.
Here at University of Alabama, Huntsville we have a "BalloonSat" class, that is a senior engineering
project for electrical engineering students. There is also a UAH, Space Hardware Club that involves
students of all disciplines. One of their recent experiments flew nerve cells from a mouse into the
stratosphere to see how they survived in a "Near Space" environment, and they did!!!
Some might call me closed minded. I call myself and people like me grounded in the faith. It was
proven early in icom communications that being ground is very important for Signals to flow
properly. Signals that were not grounded bounced all over the place. People that are not grounded
bounce from one belief to another. They will never find peace this way or have a solid testimony.
Bill - The High Altitude Research Corporation does a variety of "Near Space" and space-related
research and development for NASA, universities and commercial customers. One of our projects
involved launching a rocket from a balloon while over 70,000 feet high.
From a safety standpoint, PURPLE is the color that ensures a successful cruising life, but I don't
think the sailing community will ever leave pink and blue behind!
