 the oldest competition in the world
consisted of 200 feet of Heracles and this
name was ``stadion´´.
 the first Olympic Games held in Greece in
1896 and it held every four years, it have
been suspended only three times in the
history because of the world wars.
athletics has four disciplines:
 Running races
 Releases
 Jumps
 Combined
There are two disciplines:
 Only run: it can be speed races and
resistence races. Also there are
Racewalking
100m,200m,400m,800m,1500m,5000m,
1000m, 21km, 42km and 20km , 50km for
raceralking.
 Obstacles races: the athlete has to jump
hurdles .
110m,200m,400m and 3000m obstacles.
There are 4 diferent releases:
 shot put: the ball weighs 7,260 kg for mens
and 4kg for woman.
 hammer throw: the ball has a string. the
athlete catches the ball on the string.
 Javelin throw: the javelin measure 260-
270cm for mens and 220-230cm in womes.
 Discus throw: the discus are 221cm of
diametre and 2kg for mens and 180cm of
diametre and1kg for womens.
There are two disciplines:
 high jump and pole vault
 Long jump and triple jump
That is a competition of two days where the
ahtlete has to do that test:
Day one: 100m, long jump, shot put, hight
jump and 400m
Day two: 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole
vault, javelin throw and 1500m
