2.  The TajMahal was built between the period
of 1632-48.
 It was built over a period of 22 years using
20,000 workers and over 1000 elephants.
 It is located in Agra, by the river Yamuna in
India.
 It is a mausoleum built in the memory of the
emperor Shah Jahan’s wife MumtazMahal.

3.  Mostly white marble was used in the
construction.
 For the decoration, they used agate,
bloodstone, turquoise and lots of other rare
materials.

4.  Themaster architect was UstadIsa and he
was a famous architect of that time.

5.  A square platform, unequal octagon and a dome are part of the main
structure.
 The four minarets (spires) are in the shape of a cylinder.
 The garden is divided into four parts that are in rectangular shape.

6.  The dome is about 35m.
 The building is octagonal in shape and each
side is 55m.
 The minarets are 40 m high and divided into
three parts. Above each is the balcony with a
chattri (kiosk).
 The entire garden is about 300 square
meters.

7.  The industries and the automobiles around
the Taj Mahal are releasing harmful
chemicals. This is affecting the white colour
of the marble.
 When I visited the Taj Mahal, I noticed the
white colour of the Taj was getting
discoloured.
