2. Jamaica is an island that belongs to the
Greater Antilles in the Caribbean Sea.
Kingston is the largest city and capital.
Elizabeth II is the Queen of Jamaica but it
isn’t a British colony.

3. The Rastafari movement or Rasta is a new religious movement that arose in
the 1930s in Jamaica, which at the time was a country with a predominantly
Christian culture where 98% of the people were the black descendants of
slaves. They believe in Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia, as God
incarnate, the Second Advent, or the reincarnation of Jesus.

4. The Jamaican way of cooking is influenced by different cultures, Chinese African
British Indian ... Among its typical dishes we should mention the Ackee is a fruit
that takes on the flavor of cooked scrambled eggs.
• The pepper pot is quimbobo soup and callaloo with grilled meat.
•The Bammy is a round bread made ​of cassava, ideal to accompany these dishes.
As for drinks should be noted Jamaican rum.
• Maria liqueur which is made with coffee liqueur and Jamaican spices, and
Caribbean beer , also are made rich exotic juices and smoothies.

6. Although the reggae is the most popular music of
Jamaica, this is not alone.
Mento is a traditional music of Jamaica, use guitar, banjo and
different drums, this is the beginning of ska and reggae. Next
appeared the ska, a mix of jazz, mento and blues. Then
appeared the rock steady and finally the reggae, which
reached the fame whit Bob Nesta Marley, the King of Reggae.

7. •Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean.

•In the months of August through October is hurricane season and it is
quite dangerous.
•In Jamaica there aren´t traffic signs or traffic lights and they drive on the
left.

In Jamaica the marihuanna is prohibited since 1913, is legal only the 3 days
of the Rastafarian festival in commemoration with the birth of Bob Marley.
