2. As a designer it is important to continue to gain knowledge of
new technologies and development within the field.
Progressive knowledge of new products or methods that may
enhance a design or provide an innovative solution for the
client is always a personal goal.
Being a designer it is imperative to branch away from main
stream ideas and processes to create intuitive designs that can
support my inspirations and aspirations as a designer. A
design should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also
express insightful creativity and provide sensitivity to any
design limitations.
Budget constraints are always a concern to a designer. It is
the responsibility of the designer to discover ways of meeting
the budget without compromising the project. I am constantly
learning new ways to be resourceful and save money not only
for the client but for the company I may work for.
Sustainability is the new word in design. As a designer I believe
that it is imperative to gain the knowledge necessary to be
able to create an environmentally friendly design. My goal is to
become LEED certified so I can further supply clients with the
information and necessary tools to become environmentally
aware.
3. concept:
The design for Ganesh, a hotel with a restaurant and lounge in Mumbai, India will display modern design characteristics combined
with more traditional architectural elements. This will allow for a design that is fresh while keeping the richness of the Indian
history intact.
Design elements will be inspired by the representational image of the Hindu God Ganesh. The elephant faced god displays an
appearance which is unique to Indian culture and also has multi-dimensional meanings hidden within the elements used to portray
him.
To create a space that will generate feelings of comfort and elegance, rich colors and materials will be used. Saturated hues of
red, gold, and blue will be combined the more neutral tones of brown and white. Materials such as silk and velvet will be used, as
well as gold and wooden accents. These materials will create a rich, yet comfortable, atmosphere.
The triangular shape was taken The crossover of the lines was The final shape is a combination
from the imagery of Ganesh. It is taken from the idea of how Ganesh of both triangular shape and the

14. concept:
The concept for this project was plastic. The company and the concept was taken from another
student who used them for the corporate office design.
The original design used elements such as smooth texture, shiny and matte materials, materials
with moldable qualities, and a bright color palette.
Along with the elements used for the corporate design, new ideas developed from the concept
were also used for the retail space.
The idea of containment was taken from the plastic concept. Plastic is the main material used for
all types of containers.
Aside from the concept of plastic the company itself was taken in consideration. The sketching
process the designers use to create the characters is used for inspiration as well.

concept:
The concept of the Jimmy Choo corporate office is an orchid mantis. The mantis relates to the designer Jimmy Choo
because both are native to Malaysia. The insect and Jimmy Choo’s designs are both characterized by having brilliant
and beautiful coloring with an unusual structure. Furthermore, the orchid Mantis is comparable to the fashion industry
by the vicious and aggressive nature of both.
Inspirational elements taken from the mantis include delicacy, bold colors matched with neutrals, segmentation,
translucency, strong diagonal line combined with a more organic form, the interaction between elements and the
environment and the combination of smooth and textured surfaces.
