Rev 7 depicts 4 angels being held back until God's people are sealed. ,[object Object]

This picture is reminiscent of a similar passage in Ezekiel 9 ,[object Object]

The four trumpets of Rev. 8:7-12 are harbingers of God's judgments ,[object Object]

The judgments depicted by trumpets come from various places in the OT ,[object Object],[object Object]

They are also reminiscent of the plagues of Egypt ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

In Revelation 10, John is told to eat a little book that an angel gives him ,[object Object]

This episode is reminiscent of an experience of the prophet Ezekiel ,[object Object]

In Revelation 11, John is told to measure God's temple ,[object Object]

Zechariah similarly envisioned a man measuring Jerusalem ,[object Object]

In Revelation 11, two witnesses preach for three-and-a-half years ,[object Object]

These two witnesses remind us of the two olive branches in Zechariah 4 ,[object Object]

The power to turn water to blood and inflict plagues reminds us of Moses ,[object Object]

The power to shut the sky and prevent rain reminds us of Elijah ,[object Object]

In Rev 12, John sees a war in heaven with Satan thrown to earth ,[object Object]

The description sounds like a similar description in Isaiah 14 ,[object Object]

In Revelation 13, John sees a beast coming out of the sea ,[object Object],[object Object]

Isaiah offers another example to show that this is a common theme. ,[object Object]

Isaiah's description sounds much like words we will read in Revelation: ,[object Object],[object Object]

And the ungodly will be sorry about the way they treated Jesus. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

He is the one “who is and who was and who is to come”. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Down through the OT, others had to learn their lesson the hard way. ,[object Object],[object Object]

Revelation was written when the church was facing more upstart kings ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

There is one last, great word that John uses to describe God. ,[object Object],[object Object]

Those around God's throne extol him as “the Almighty”. ,[object Object],[object Object]

The “Song of the Lamb” and the altar praise God as “the Almighty”. ,[object Object],[object Object]

There is a battle on “the great day of God, the Almighty”. ,[object Object]

When God judges Rome, the elders praise God as “the Almighty”. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

In the description of the “the new Jerusalem”: ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
