2. TEAM PLAYERS One of the appeals of the Navy involvement - both represent, young, fit, strong healthy Australians in either boats or in the Navy’s case ships and both work as a team. You can’t row a surf boat on your own nor sail a ship… Surf Rowers reflect …… Navy The Team Works. Around six-hundred (600) surf boat crews, three thousand (3000) rowers from around the coastline of Australia donned the Navy singlet's for the 2008 - 2009 Navy Surf Rowers National Premiership League.. Last summer the Navy Surf Rowers National Premiership was staged across 24 event weekend days in all states throughout Australia … it all culminates at the Navy Australian Open Surf Boat Championships More than 350 crews from almost every state in the country descended on the Open, each hoping to row their way to the final and claim the coveted title of Navy Australian Open Surf Boat Champions. 2008 - 2009
