TOP MOBILE & TABLET ACTIVITY – WEEK ENDING 3/2/2012
     Mobile Trends/Forecasts


       o     In a new study, the CEA projected that increased levels of m-commerce will translate into
             consumers spending $575 on mobile purchases on average in 2012. More than one-third
             (37%) of mobile users are engaging in some form of mobile commerce -- either shopping
             and/or purchasing online or in physical stores, or using coupons or gift cards.


       o     Men are expected to out spend women in mobile purchases this year, by $677 to $489,
             according to IBM. Among age groups, those 35-44 are projected to spend the most at
             $664 on average, while people making over $75,000 annually will spend $686 via mobile
             devices


       o     Google found that 92 percent of smartphone owners in the US seek local (offline)
             information via their devices, and that 89 percent of those people took some form of
             action after such a look-up.

       o     73% of participants use their smartphone when shopping; 2% claim use of mobile
             wallet/NFC. Shopping apps are the fastest growing app category. App usage spikes for US
             adults at 5pm. They view 33 hours per week of video across TV, Online and Mobile
             platforms. (Nielsen)


       o     The latest Nielsen Census reports that Americans 18-34 make up 23 percent of the U.S.
             population, yet they represent an outsized portion of participants watching online video
             (27%), visiting social networking/blog sites (27%), owning tablets (33%) and using a
             smartphone (39%).


       o     According to the Fifth Annual Local Search Usage Study conducted by comScore, about
             49% of mobile and tablet users use apps for local business searches, and 64% of tablet
             owners search for local stores on the device at least weekly, with 86% making a purchase
             from their most recent search.

TOP MOBILE & TABLET ACTIVITY – WEEK ENDING 3/2/2012  Mobile Trends/Forecasts o In a new study, the CEA projected that increased levels of m-commerce will translate into consumers spending $575 on mobile purchases on average in 2012. More than one-third (37%) of mobile users are engaging in some form of mobile commerce -- either shopping and/or purchasing online or in physical stores, or using coupons or gift cards. o Men are expected to out spend women in mobile purchases this year, by $677 to $489, according to IBM. Among age groups, those 35-44 are projected to spend the most at $664 on average, while people making over $75,000 annually will spend $686 via mobile devices o Google found that 92 percent of smartphone owners in the US seek local (offline) information via their devices, and that 89 percent of those people took some form of action after such a look-up. © Performics.   • 3. TOP MOBILE & TABLET ACTIVITY – WEEK ENDING 3/2/2012  Mobile Trends/Forecasts (cont.) o 73% of participants use their smartphone when shopping; 2% claim use of mobile wallet/NFC. Shopping apps are the fastest growing app category. App usage spikes for US adults at 5pm. They view 33 hours per week of video across TV, Online and Mobile platforms. (Nielsen) o The latest Nielsen Census reports that Americans 18-34 make up 23 percent of the U.S. population, yet they represent an outsized portion of participants watching online video (27%), visiting social networking/blog sites (27%), owning tablets (33%) and using a smartphone (39%). o According to the Fifth Annual Local Search Usage Study conducted by comScore, about 49% of mobile and tablet users use apps for local business searches, and 64% of tablet owners search for local stores on the device at least weekly, with 86% making a purchase from their most recent search. © Performics.
