2. The Tijuana River flows from the U.S, into Mexico and then back into the U.S. discharging into the Pacific Ocean through the Tijuana River Estuary The coastal strip is approximately 3 miles long, between the Tijuana River Estuary (U.S.) and Playas de Tijuana (Mex). TIJUANA RIVER WATHERSHED
5. On either side of this 3 mile segment, is a discharge pipe from waste water treatment plants, one in each country. Contamination and sedimentation factors threaten increasing numbers of endan-gered plants and animals as well as human health COMMUNITY ISSUES

Los problemas en esta zona son: principalmente residuos sólidos (basura) falta de una infraestructura apropiada como son accesos a la playa, sanitarios, zonas de descanso por mencionar algunas. Otro de los problemas son los derrames oficiales y clandestinos.
