Regarding exhibition area, Guangzhou design week 2008 is in the lead among other identical events in China. Its “Green Design” combined with design
business inspires reactions of governments, local foreign consulates, well-known design institutions and famous brands. “Low Carbon Design” booth
set up with British general-consulate Guangzhou is one of the reactions showing the forward looking vision of Guangzhou design week.

From July 1 to October 15, 1238 works of 575 designers from all over country including Chengdu, Wenzhou, Dongguan, Wuhan and Ningbo
had been received. All works were divided into 10 interior categories : commercial, hotel, office, entertainment, restaurant, display, public,
residential show flat and villaresidential, show flat and villa.

2008低碳设计竞赛（Low Carbon Design）由英国驻广州总领事馆与广州国际设计周组委会联合主办 参赛主题2008低碳设计竞赛（Low Carbon Design）由英国驻广州总领事馆与广州国际设计周组委会联合主办，参赛主题
是“减少温室气体排放的‘中国制造’”，旨在形成低碳设计风尚，向广大在校学子推广低碳设计的设计原理、理
念、方法、手段，来降低中国建筑和中国制造产品在生产、加工、消费、使用和回收等各个环节所产生的温室气体
排放。从9月起，广州国际设计周依次去到广州美术学院、清华大学、浙江大学及山东大学等高校进行竞赛推广，截

Low Carbon Design Competition is organized by British Consulate-General Guangzhou and Guangzhou Design Week, theme by
“Made in China” Away from Greenhouse Gas Emissions. With the purpose of shaping low carbon design trends, it promotes low
carbon design principles, concepts and approaches among college students, to reduce greenhouse gas generated in produce,
processing, consumption, use and recovery links of building and manufacturing. Starting in September 2008, Guangzhou Design
Week held road shows in The Guangzhou Academic of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University and Shandong University
respectively. By October 20, 148 student works were collected, 26pcs of which were selected for final judgment. 2pcs were voted
for Silver Prize and 3pcs for Bronze Prize.
