over about Hubpages that I had to cut it
down to this just one site.

 What is this?
 This is the GREATEST invention from Google
yet!
 And it is FREE!!!
 You must have a Gmail account to use this,
since it is much easier that way.
 This is a way to track ALL the activity on your
web 2.0 sites.

 Once you are signed up, you will be provided a
code that you must put on your web 2.0 sites.
 Once you do this you will be able to see
everything that happens.
 You can find out about:
 Visitors
 Pageviews
 Time on a page
 Where they clicked
 And More!

 To get an idea of what you can see, here are
the stats from my Internet Predator Tracker
website for one day.
 Now, this is just the overview of the stats, I
can click on each one and be able to dig down
deeper into each stat.
 This allows me to even see WHERE on the
page someone CLICKED!!


 Now that you have that installed, you will
know everything that goes on.
 You can also do Split-Testing
 This is where you create another version of a
page, or section of your website, and Google
will rotate those two or more versions and
track what happens, so you can see what
your visitors like better!

 This is going to be the cornerstone of your
web activity, since with Google Analytics, you
can track each and every web 2.0 site that we
will talk about tonight.
 And trust me, even if you don’t do anything
with it right now, you can just let it run so that
you can keep track of the stats for a month or
longer and then go back and see what is
going on when you can spare the time.

 What are Keywords or Tags?
 Well, they are the same thing in fact.
 It really just depends on the website that you
are at as to which term the use.
 Basically, these are the words that you want
to be found for on the search engines.
 But, if you are very smart, you will focus on
words that people will type into the search
engines to find you.

 What a second Joe, I want to learn about
Hubpages and those other two places!
 Well, here is the thing, each of those sites
allow you to enter the Keywords/Tags for
each page you put up, article you write, or
pictures you upload.
 So, if you don’t do your research ahead of
time, you are going to miss the boat!


 Wait, so I have to do this for every single
page, article, picture. Etc????
 NO WAY
 Hang on!
 You need to do this pretty much just once.
 Once you have developed the keyword/tag
list, you can use this over and over.
 But, you have to do the work right the first
time.

 Keywords are the way search engines work.
 Keywords are: PI, Private Investigator, GPS,
etc
 FORGET GETTING THE TOP RANKINGS FOR
THOSE!!
 Besides those are worthless keywords,
people using those are browsing. You want
BUYERS.

 One of the key concepts in Internet
Marketing, is the idea that there are browsers
and buyers on the internet.
 One of the things that I finally understood
was the fact that not everyone on the
Internet was looking to buy things!
 I had to finally understand that some people
are just looking around.


 Here I was wasting all this time on trying to
rank for such a general word, that I could
never rank for!
 I finally figured it out, NEVER go for a general
term, always focus on Long Tail Keywords.
 These are more like the real search terms that
people that want to hire you or buy from you
will type in.
 This is the way to get more clients and
money!

 Long tail keywords is where everything is at
now, and what you need.
 Consider the following list:
 PI
 Private Investigator
 Private Investigator in GA
 Divorce & Private Investigator in GA
 Which do you think is someone looking to
hire right now?

 Now that you know the secret, you need to
learn how to do proper Keyword Research.
 And of course, we have to find a way to do
this for FREE.
 Let me walk you through a general way to
research keywords for a Private Investigation
company.


 This is the BEST way to research keywords
since it is FREE!

 By using this tool, you can enter your general
words to research for better keywords, or you
can enter your long-tail keywords for better
research

 So, you need to answer the following
question:
 What do you want people to find you for?
 Services you provide?
 Your name?
 Your company name?
 General Private Investigations?
 Other things?


 Now, you have the general terms, but we
need to tighten these up.
 So answer this question
 What State/County are you in?
 What is the major city near you?
 Now you have:
 General Term + State
 General Term + County
 General Term + Major City

 You will put each of these into the Google
Keyword research page.
 I will give you a list of those words to research
for a fictitious PI company in DC.
 Remember, this is an example for you to
understand what your keywords should look
like.


 Private Investigator DC
 Private Investigation DC
 PI DC
 Cheating spouse DC
 Cheating husband DC
 Cheating wife DC
 Surveillance DC
 Follow husband DC
 GPS track husband DC
 Background investigation DC

 Now make them plural, Google says that
Investigation and Investigations are two
different terms!
 Private Investigators DC

 Email investigations DC

 Now expand the city name
 Private Investigator District of Columbia
 Private Investigation District of Columbia
 PI District of Columbia
 Cheating spouse District of Columbia
 Cheating husband District of Columbia
 Cheating wife District of Columbia
 Surveillance District of Columbia
 Follow husband District of Columbia
 GPS track husband District of Columbia
 Background investigation District of Columbia
 Email investigation District of Columbia
 Check a date District of Columbia
 Check a mate District of Columbia


 Getting the idea?
 But again, you just need to do this once.
 Put all the results into an Excel spreadsheet.
 Now, one last thing
 Take all of these list of keywords, and make
another copy where there are commas
between each one.
 Some sites want the keywords comma
separated, others do not.

 This will allow you to quickly “tag” an article,
page, or picture.
 All you have to do is copy a set of keywords
from your list and then paste them to the site
you are working on.
 Now, this was pretty much a basic review of
keyword research.
 You can tell from this overview that this can
get very, very detailed.
 Trust me, you will learn more as you do this.

 You have a choice with ALL of these sites.
 You will be registering your websites with a
Gmail account so you can keep track of
everything.
 However, if you want to really TURBO charge
all of these sites, you will not create just one
hubpage, but maybe 10, 30, 50, or 100 of
them.
 In order to do this, you need a NEW email for
each hubpage account you setup.

 Here is your number on way to handle this
 http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/
 This website will create a disposable email
address that is valid for 10 minutes.
 So if you want to create pure “throw-away”
websites that require an email to verify, use this
site.
 After 10 minutes that email address is no good,
so just long enough for you to create the site,
enter the email, verify your email and then its
gone.


 The Hubpages team is founded by three guys
out of Microsoft that were part of the
successful startup MongoMusic. The team
includes Paul Edmondson, Jay Reitz, and Paul
Deeds.
 Hubpages is a “free-hosted community” type
website.
 This is where you the user provide the
content for the website.

 Hubpages is another Web 2.0 site that is index and
favored by Google and the other Search Engines.
 The reason for this is these sites are adding fresh
content all the time.
 And that is the big thing that every Search Engine is
looking for, fresh content.
 Hubpages is also a revenue sharing type of system
 This means that if your page makes money, you will
share the money with Hubpages.
 You can also add Google Adsense to your pages as
well.


 A few things to note about your profile on
Hubpages
 You MUST add a picture!
 Remember, you want this to be a personal
connection you are making with the visitor.
 If you don’t want a picture of yourself, then
post your company logo.


 Note that on the Profile, you have a Bio
option here.
 With the bio you can put in your information,
but also note, it takes HTML CODE!
 This is where you can put in KEYWORDS,
from our research before, but MASK them.
 Such as, “I enjoy my job as a Private
Investigator in Atlanta GA”


 Here is where you can enter in the
information about any affiliate program you
are part of.
 I suggest you at least sign up with
 Google
 Amazon
 Ebay
 Analytics


 By doing this you will be able to make extra
money with your hubs that you create.
 And you never know how much this could be.
 From $10 to $1000, you just can’t tell
 But it is really nice getting a surprise check in
the mail each month!


 This is a way that you can use the URL tracker
that Hubpages likes to keep track of
everything.
 I suggest that instead you use Google
Analytics to do this.


 One thing that became very apparent is that
there could be some confusion between Hubs
and Hubpages.
 Lets clear this up
 You create a Hubpage Account
 Under this account you can have multiple
Hubs (think of them as articles, lens, pages)
 So, if I say you need lots of hubs, that means
you need to write about a lot of topics

 BUT
 On the other hand you will need MULTIPLE
Hubpage Accounts.
 Why?
 What if your business hubpage account gets
shutdown for some reason?
 You lose everything!
 So, open multiple accounts on Hubpages so if
one gets closed down, you are not wiped out.

 To make your first Hub, just look at the top
and click on start a new hub


 First you need to enter a Title for this hub.
 Now remember, it needs to be about what
your are going to write about AND it MUST
have a keyword you want to rank for!
 So choose your title and put it in.
 As you enter the title, the hubpage URL will
be created.
 Next its time to choose a topic


 Next, you need to choose the topic of your
Hub.
 From there you now need to choose the
layout of the Hub.
 I normally choose the first option, but you
need to mix it up with the other hubs that you
create.
 Notice, that you can have a photo in just
about all of them.

 And look at what’s next!


 I told you I wasn’t crazy!
 Now it says add at least 2 tags, but you can
add more of them to this.
 And look just to the side!
 Hubpages is giving you some extra help and
telling you some other ideas for you to use as
tags!
 If you click on one of the words, it will
automatically be added to the tag list
 Next just click Continue

 Next, notice that you will be warned about a
few items that Hubpages does not want.
 Make sure you are not going to violate these,
or you will find your hub gone!
 Now just enter the Capcha code from the
next page.


 Now you are at the AssembleYour Capsules
page.
 Here is where you will build you Hub for this
time.
 Remember to look everything over on the
Settings tab and then you need to check the
Summary Text Tab
 And then you need to check the Group tab.


 Next, scroll down and choose the Photo you
want to show.
 You do this by clicking on edit and the picking
the photo.
 Note that here you can choose a photo from
your computer or from the web!
 Make sure you check to see how it looks on
your hub, you might need to go back and
change the size of it from full to half or
quarter.

 Next you want to edit your Text section.
 Just click on the edit button and start adding
text to this section.
 NOTE: Make sure you follow this with your
writing:
 Keyword blah blah blah
 End the paragraph with Keyword 2
 Next paragraph about middle enter Keyword 3
 After that, mix up the location of the keywords, and
stick with no more that 5 keywords per text section.


 Next you need to add a new capsule to your
hub.
 Look at the top and choose Links from the
bar


 When you click on this, the links capsule will be
added to the bottom of your hub.
 Just go and click Edit.
 You will then enter a title for the Link Capsule
 Then enter your URL
 You will then be prompted to enter a
description, be aware, you can not enter HTML
into that description box.
 And then click done, by the red x
 You are brought back to the main link capsule,
and click save.


 Hubpages allows for the following items to be added:
 Text
 Video
 Photo
 Links
 News
 Comments
 RSS
 Poll
 Ebay
 Amazon
 Code
 Table
 Quiz


 You should always add
 Photo
 Text (more than one)
 Video (google loves video remember!)
 Ebay (if it matches your topic)
 Amazon (use a keyword for your topic)
 RSS (this lets you be found easier)


 Once you have added the RSS capsule, scroll
to the bottom and click edit
 Enter a title for the capsule
 Now, you need to note that it will ask for
Feed URL
 Guess what? You can create a RSS feed for
your company webpage and make that the
RSS feed!
 Or you could make your twitter account the
RSS Feed!

 Now that you have entered a new RSS feed,
you need to click on Preview RSS.
 This will validate that what you have entered
is a real RSS feed.
 Now, just click on Save and your done!


 Now, click on the Amazon button to add the
Amazon capsule to the hub.
 Scroll to the bottom and you will see the
Amazon capsule
 Click on Edit
 Now, you need to enter the title for this
capsule, make it something that tells people
to buy!


 There are two options here for products
 Choose specific products
 Choose keywords
 If you choose the “Choose specific products” then you
need to have the exact information about the product
you want to sell.
 If you choose “Choose keywords” then you can enter
a keyword or keywords.
 You can then click “Preview Amazon Results” and see
what might show up.
 When you are happy with the results, click save.

 Now in this capsule, you need to give it a title.
 Next, you need to pick video you want to show.
 Your best bet here is to go toYouTube and find a
video you like.
 Once you find it, just click the button that says
URL can copy that.
 Now just paste that into the section that says
Video URL
 Now you can preview the video if you want.
 Next just click Save and you are done!


 If you need to reorder any of the capsules,
this is the time.
 Just move up towards the top of the page to
reorder the capsules
 Just click and hold on one of the capsule
types and drag it up to where you want it.
 I always leave the comments at the bottom of
the hub.
 Then just click on Reorder Now.

 Once your ready, just scroll up to the top of
the page and click on Preview if you want to
see it.
 If you are ready to publish, just click on
Publish Now.


 Now that you have published the hub, you
have two choices
 Connect with Facebook
 Tweet this
 This way you can publish the information on your
Facebook account so others can check it out.
 And you can tweet this hub information out to
everyone else as well.


 Doesn’t this look like a Squidoo lens?
 Guess what?
 It does look just like it!
 So, why not copy this same hub over to a
Squidoo lens??
 Get double out the same work


 Now, how can we make sure we are getting
the most out of the hub?
 Well, it has to be free right?
 The answer is
 Google Analytics!!


 Lets talk about how to set this up for Hubpages
Sign up for a Google Analytics account -
http://www.google.com/analytics.
 Log in to your Google Analytics account and
create a profile for the Hubpage you want to
track.
 Make sure you keep each Hubpage account
separate.
 You might create more than one Hubpage
account.


 Track the website http://hubpages.com.
 You do not need to create independent profiles
for each of your hubs under an account.
 This is the most important - when you create a
Google Analytics profile, enter the URL
http://hubpages.com.
 You do not need to enter the URLs of your
different hubs.
 Google Analytics will be able to track and report
on all your existing hubs and any additional hubs
that you write and publish with just this single
URL information and a single profile.

 Take note of the profile's UA-code.
 It is an ID of the form "UA-XXXXXXXX-X",
where X stands for a number.
 It could look like this: UA-80083212-2. Go
back to HubPages and go to the Affiliate
Settings.
 Fill in required UA-code for Google Analytics.


 Now just sit back and wait. It could take a
few hours before information is tracked.
 I normally come back and look at it after 24
hours.
 At this point you can begin to see what parts
of the hub people liked the most.
 How they got to your hub
 How long they stayed on it
 What they clicked on, etc.

 So, what are you going to write about?
 Anything and everything!
 Let me give you a few things that you could
use for this.


 Log into your Gmail account and open a new tab
on your browser.
 Then go to: www.google.com/alerts
 Here you will setup a series of alerts on keywords
that you are interested in.
 Suggestions:
 Private investigator
 Surveillance case
 Computer security
 Personal security
 Use the titles of services you provide

 Now that you have this setup, you will get a
story that comes into your Gmail account
anytime that word is mentioned on the Web.
 And when a story comes in, guess what??
 You now have a HUB to write about!
 Plus, it will have links that you can put in
 It might have pictures
 And more!

 Here you can go and enter in a topic and BAM
you have something or multiple things to
write about!
 And you want something REALLY
AWESOME??

 Just make sure you summarize the information
or provide your own report or view on the topic!
