Este documento discute hiponatremia em pacientes de UTI. A hiponatremia é comum nesses pacientes e está associada a piores resultados. As principais causas são hipovolemia, síndrome de secreção inapropriada de hormônio antidiurético e distúrbios renais. O tratamento deve corrigir a causa subjacente e aumentar os níveis de sódio de forma segura para evitar complicações neurológicas.
