Pooch & Company are a small independent company based in leafy Surrey. We have vast experience in the dog world from breeding
to showing for over 25 years.
We have a real commitment to good, wholesome dog food and we want to share this with you. We are delighted to feature our
own natural dog food made with no artificial preservatives, fillers or flavours to ensure health and vitality throughout your dog’s life.
Keeping our dogs fit and healthy is part of how we run our own lives: eating the right food, in the right quantities and at the right time.

convenience without compromise. Our premium dog food contains only high quality ingredients, no cheap fillers, and is

The Ingredients: When you compare the ingredients and nutritional values of our Premium food against others you will be

Preservatives: We use no chemical preservatives (which are often added to pet foods and can be damaging to your dogs
health), instead we choose to use the natural antioxidants Vitamin A and E to preserve the food.
The good health of our dogs is paramount. Your dog can maintain good health and well being by having a wholesome well-
balanced meal and sufficient exercise. What your dog eats has a huge impact on his or her health, energy and condition.
Many ailments are caused by poor quality foods lacking in good quality nutrients, or those that are not properly balanced
and contain ingredients dogs’ find hard to digest.
The Building Blocks of Health
Nutrients are the building blocks for your dogs’ health. Nutrients are elements or compounds that are necessary for your
dog’s metabolism, growth, and all other functions. Essential nutrients must be supplied from food because your dog’s body
cannot synthesize sufficient amounts.

There are 6 main categories of essential nutrients, these are:
Proteins: Roughly half of your dogs’ body is made up of protein. Protein is a nutrient made up of amino acids that are the building
blocks for your dogs’ body. Proteins are necessary in your dogs’ diet, since dogs’, unlike humans, cannot synthesize all the amino
acids they need and must obtain them from food. Only good quality protein is used in Pooch & Co Premium, as poor quality protein
is difficult for a dog to digest.
Fats: Fats are highly digestible, very palatable, and provide energy. Dogs metabolise fat the way humans metabolise carbohydrates.
Your dog’s body will always use fat to convert into energy before protein or carbohydrates. Poor quality types of fat will lead to
various problems, the most obvious being a coarse, dull coat and dry, itchy skin.
Carbohydrates: The carbohydrates contained in Pooch & Co Premium are properly processed so that your dog can easily digest
them. (Dogs do not produce the enzymes required to break down plant cell walls). The high quality carbohydrates within the food
contain many nutrients as well as fibre. In many dog foods, grains and grain by-products are substituted for meat (or fish) as a cheap
(and incomplete) source of protein, not because of their carbohydrate content.
Fibre: The term “fibre” refers mostly to complex carbohydrates that are not digested by the enzymes in the small intestine of your
dog. Some fibres are partially digested by the beneficial bacteria present in the large intestine. Fibre is necessary for your dogs’
health as it helps transport the stomach contents through the intestines and promotes regular elimination.
Vitamins: Vitamins are organic substances required by the dogs’ body in small amounts for many metabolic processes. Most
vitamins cannot be synthesized by your dogs’ body and need to be supplied with the food in sufficient quantities.
Healthy Dog.
Minerals: Minerals are essential, inorganic compounds necessary for life, which your dogs’ body cannot synthesize. Pooch & Co
Premium contains all the essential minerals your dog will need.
Water: Make sure your dog always has plenty of fresh, clean water to drink. If you restrict access to water your dog will be obliged
to drink as much as possible when it is available. This is not healthy and may lead to stomach upsets and bladder infections. If your
dog prefers, Pooch & Co Premium can be served with an added splash of water.

7. OUR KIBBLE
Pooch & Co Premium kibbles are specially designed to ensure
maximum palatability and are “friendly” because we have taken into
account all of the following:
Texture: Texture is important to dogs. Puppies and smaller dogs prefer
smooth kibbles.
Density: The correct density of the kibble ensures that it is
satisfactorily crunchy when fed dry, but easily soaked for those dogs
preferring a moist diet.
Size: Kibbles are an appropriate size and shape for the age group at
which they are produced for.

Metabolism: Every animal is an individual with his or her own
speed of metabolism; this means that 2 dogs of the same age, 25kg 285-315gms
breed and weight could have different daily calorie 25-27kg 315-415gms
requirements.
30-35kg 415-505gms
In order to provide the correct portions, it is also helpful to
35-40kg 505-525gms
assess your pet’s appetite, visual appearance and stools is one
of the best indicators of health. Increased frequency of passing 40-45kg 525-550gms
faeces, production of large quantities of stools of loose motions
are often frequent signs that an animal is receiving more food 45-50kg 550-590gms
than he or she requires. 50-55kg 590-635gms

9. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I change my dog onto Pooch & Company Premium dog food?
When changing your dog's diet, it is important to do it gradually over a period of up to seven days. This is necessary so that your
dog’s digestive system can become accustomed to the new food. Whether you’re changing from canned food or from another dry
food, start by mixing a small amount of the Pooch & Co Premium with the previous food. Over the next few days, steadily increase
the amount of the Pooch & Co Premium while reducing the amount of the previous food, until you are feeding your dog entirely on
the Pooch & Co Premium. Changing gradually in this way should avoid any digestive upset and your dog should take readily to the
new food.
Does Pooch & Co Premium dog food contain any unhealthy artificial additives?
No, it does not. As well as being a hypo-allergenic food, our Premium dog food is natural and wholesome. Unlike some other brands
of dog food, we do not add any artificial flavours, preservatives or colours. There is no added BHT, BHA or ethoxyquin. And the
antioxidants that we use are natural Vitamin E and Vitamin C.
Does it matter if I moisten the food?
You can serve Pooch & Co Premium either with or without added water in the bowl, according to your dog's preference. For the best
dental and oral hygiene, we recommend that Pooch & Co Premium should be fed dry or lightly moistened, to allow the crunchy
biscuits to clean your dog’s teeth.
For added palatability, it is sometimes a good idea to add a small quantity of warm water to the dry food. This brings out the aroma
of the food, which many dogs adore!
If your dog has tender teeth or gums, you can soak the food until it is soft before feeding. Always supply plenty of clean fresh
drinking water at all times.
Do I need to add any other food to the Pooch & Co Premium?
No, you don’t. Pooch & Co Premium is a complete dry dog food containing all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals that your dog
requires for a full, healthy life. The food has been carefully formulated so that it is both nutritionally complete and also correctly
balanced. Therefore you don’t need to add any extra food or any supplements to Pooch & Co Premium . In fact, doing so would
probably upset the nutritional balance of the food. It is designed to be fed on its own (with a separate bowl of fresh drinking water)
and this way will meet all your dog's nutritional requirements.

Which variety of Pooch & Co Premium should I choose for my dog?
The best variety for you to select will depend on your dog’s age, breed, activity level and weight. All those factors will affect the
nutritional requirements of your dog. In view of this, Pooch & Co Premium have a complete range of dog food that will cater for your
dog's needs whatever their stage of life, from puppies to senior.
How much should I be feeding my dog?
The correct amount of food to serve will be determined by your dog’s age, weight and activity level (see Recommended Feeding
Guidelines page).
Does Pooch & Co Premium dog food contain undesirable 'animal derivatives' e.g. beaks and feathers?
No, it does not. Unlike many other dog foods, we do not conceal our ingredients by listing them in mysterious categories like "meat
and animal derivatives" or "derivatives of vegetable origin".
We believe that to make the best food you need the best ingredients and we are proud of the fact that we use only the highest
quality ingredients and list them fully and clearly on our packs and literature.
