3. The lonesome human being
rén = human
Once upon a time there was a very lonesome human being. It had no one
else to play with. “What shall I do?” asked the human being. So it started to
walk….
4. dà = big, great
It walked and walked and walked but could not find anyone. If I am big, the
human being thought, maybe I have a better view on what is around me. So
the lonesome human being spread its arms.
5. yīn = to continue
Even though the human being was now bigger it did not see anyone nor did
anyone notice the human being. “I need to grow till I reach the heaven”,
said the lonesome human to itself. It started to grow and continued to
grow and grow and grow…
(Do you see the human being with its spread arms walking continuously
around the square ? This is how you can remember the Chinese character
for to continue)
6. tiān = heaven
Now the human being was almost so big that it touched the sky.
7. guān = to close, to lock
Suddenly it could not grow any further. The heaven was locked. The
lonesome being started to cry….
8. měi = beautiful
Once the lonesome human stopped crying it looked down. “Oh it is so
beautiful”, and it smiled for the first time.
9. cóng = from now on
And finally the lonesome human being discovered another lonesome
human being. From now on the human being did not feel lonely anymore.
10. liăng = two
And the two human beings were very, very happy. They played all day long
until they were tired.
11. gè = counting word, example liăng gè rén = two people
One of their favorite games was a counting game. “I am one”, said the first
human being. “I am two”, counted the other. “Together we are two
people”, they both shouted out loud and laughed.
12. lái = to arrive, to come to
They also enjoyed a running game. “Let´s run up the hill”, said the one to
the other. They both started to run. “I have arrived”, shouted the first. “Me
too”, shouted the second one. And they both hugged each other.
13. quán = complete
Hide and seek was their other fun game. But each time they played it, one
of them got scared. It felt lonesome again. And when they finally caught
each other they said with relief.” We are complete again” and smiled.
(The person (人)and the king (王) united means complete)
14. rán = correct, right
„This is now the best place to be in. I am so happy“ said one human being.
“This is correct” replied the other.
The End.
