6. Good backpack ventilation reduces perspirati-

This reduces the average pulse rate and redu-

increases performance – and who wants to
do without that! Deuter has developed spe-
cial systems for the various sport categories,
which perfectly match to the particular de-
mands. They are all based on effective venti-

7. Packing...
The pack’s center of gravity should sit close to the bo-
dy and ideally at shoulder height. This way it is posi-
tioned over the body’s center of gravity and the pack
won’t pull backwards. Therefore, put heavy equipment
such as tent, food, big jackets close to the back in about
shoulder height. Place sleeping bag, down equipment
and other light objects in the bottom compartment; and
midweight gear such as clothing on the top towards the
outside. For easy grab, get small, often-used items in
the lid pocket. Minimise the number of items you strap
to the pack’s outside and evenly distribute the weight,
in particular on the side pockets.
In easy terrain (hiking routes, flat trails) the load’s cen-
ter of gravity should sit higher, in difficult passages (al-
Bike Protection pine routes, Via Ferrata) a bit lower and thus closer to
the body’s center of gravity. This packing system leads

2 Twin-frame construction gives the Aircomfort Flexlite System its special
lightweight properties at the same time as guaranteeing excellent flexibility
and ergonomic fit. The secret lies in the combination of complimentary round and
flat spring steel frame profiles. It easily follows body movements and transfers the
load perfectly to the hip fins. It also gives the back mesh a stable tensioned platform 3203

These full-contact hiking packs have already won over
many fans, due to their optimum weight bearing ability
and load control. The flexible Delrin® Aircontact back sys-
tem construction fits any shape of back comfortably – and the
clean, modern design and new colours will surely make heads
turn. A clever detail: if not needed, simply stow away the light-
weight hip belts of the models 20 SL & 24.

up to 5°C less heat build-up between the wearer’sback and
the backpack.* The ACT Lite packs have an extra air channel
between the back cushions for additional ventilation. The Air-
contact models provide comfortable load transfer with their
revised padding placements.

These athletic, sleek packs remain true to their light-
weight credentials: with their minimal weight and purist,
technical look, the ACT Lite models are good-looking, light,
yet reliable companions on any tour. Twin lid buckles and a
stretch front compartment provide more options to store all

sleeping mat to the outside. The slimline body of the pack and
the compact hip belt allow plenty of freedom of movement
when trekking or mountaineering. The SL models offer sports-
women best in class carry comfort, thanks to the narrower SL
shoulder straps with their double ‘Soft-Edge’ trim and coni-
cally shaped hip fins.
