– Composite rolls manufactured by centrifugal casting technique
– Contains variable quantity of eutectic chromium carbides and secondary
carbides

Rolls for Hot Strip Mills
• Requirements of work rolls for roughing stands
– Wear resistance
– Heat-crack resistance
– Free from scale banding
– Reduce slippages to minimum for higher rolling speeds and quality of
strip product

Keeping this in mind:
• Daewha Alloytech rolls come in centrifugally Adamite (DAU-1C), High
Chromium Cast Steel (DHS-1C) and Semi High Speed Steel (DXS-C)


Rolls for Hot Strip Mills
• Requirements of work rolls for finishing stands
– Resistance to wear and surface deterioration
– Front finishing stands to withstand high rolling temperatures and a high
draft to avoid scaling off and scaling banding
– For rear finishing stand rolls, resistance to crack by cobble required.

Keeping this in mind:
• Daewha Alloytech rolls come in high chromium cast iron with high
resistance to scaling-banding (DHW-3C) and high speed steel with
increased resistance to abrasion (DXSW-2C). For rear finishing stand rolls
DA provides anti-segregation and enhanced carbide ICDP (DGNV-2C) rolls.


Rolls for Blooming,
Slabbing and Billet Mills
• Billet, Slab and Bloom Mill rolls must withstand high rolling loads,
have great heat resistance and retain hardness even at the bottom
of the deep groove.
Keeping this in mind, Daewha Alloytech
• SHGI Roll (DIS-1) has a hardness (Hs) of 45-50 and is most suitable for
roughing stand. Highly resistant to heat cracking.
• Intermediate Rolls have a hardness of 55-60.
• For Finishing Rolls, centrifugal double poured SG Iron roll provides
excellent wear resistance and good surface finish to the product.


Rolls for Section Mills
• Requirements of rolls in section mills
– High toughness
– Rolls need deep groove in the barrels, quantity of rolling per operation is
enormous. Surface hardness not to differ from groove bottom hardness.
– Must be highly resistant to heat cracking and abrasion.

Keeping this in mind, Daewha Alloytech provides
– Adamite (DAN-2) and Graphitic steel (DAG-2) with high toughness for
breakdown mill
– Adamite (DAN-3) and Graphitic Steel (DAG-1) with high resistance to
abrasion, SHGI (DIS-2) with high surface quality, centrifugal double cast
SG Iron for roughing and intermediate stands.
– Finishing stands rolls come in CCGI (DIW-1C), CDP SG Iron (DIN-6)
with high resistance to abrasion due to centrifugal casting.
– H Beam Rolls come in High Carbon Adamite (DAU-2C), Graphite Steel
(DAG-2C) with high toughness and hardness

Heat Resisting Furnace Roller
• Hearth Rollers in mini mills needs to be changed periodically
(approx 6-8 months) due to heat resistant brick’s breakage and
separation from main roller body.
• The heat resisting brick is filled between the wheels which is
contacted with the products directly during process.
