Diet changes can be overwhelming when you are just starting out. It can be conf using to know what to change,
when, and how much. In f act, all the conf usion and inf ormation can lead to paralysis, where you end up doing
nothing at all. Eating healthy is so crucial to good health that you can’t af f ord to stand still. So we’ve put
together some great easy-to-implement healthy eating tips f or f amilies.
Now, obviously, if you try to do all these at once, you will certainly f ail. So, read through the list, and then just
pick two. You can read more about that below.
1. When you purchase ground beef , choose the 93% lean over the 85%.
2. Buy 2% milk instead of whole milk.
3. Hide the candy jar.
4. Reduce the juice intake to one serving a day. Serve water instead.
5. Keep a bowl of f resh whole f ruit within easy reach throughout the day (ie. apples, bananas, plums etc.)
6. Buy real cheddar cheese instead of Velveeta.
7. Replace one soda a day with a bottle of water.
8. Eat bef ore you shop; never shop hungry.
9. Try one new vegetable with your kids.
10. Try one new f ruit with your kids.
11. Eat at Subway instead of Mcdonalds.
12. When eating out, order water instead of soda.
13. Purchase bread that has at least 3 grams dietary f iber per slice.
14. Purchase cereal with at least 6 grams dietary f iber per serving.
15. Purchase ice cream with zero artif icial ingredients.
16. Replace regular bacon/ham with an uncured version (nitrate
f ree)
17. Swap white table sugar f or sucanat.
18. Replace white all purpose f lour with half white and half whole
wheat.
19. Replace margarine with real, unsalted butter.
20. Replace regular table syrup with grade A maple syrup.
21. Purchase local honey.
22. Drink decaf cof f ee instead of caf f einated .
23. Replace one sugary snack with pretzels.
24. Buy tuna packed in water instead of oil.
25. Buy canned f ruit packed in f ruit juice instead of syrup.

32. Use extra virgin olive oil f or dressings.
33. Make your own pasta marinara sauce.

35. Replace 1 red-meat with easy roasted salmon.
36. Have an ‘unplugged’ (no T V) homemade dinner together once a week.
37. Serve your kids a homemade sandwich and an apple instead of Lunchables.
38. Eat a healthy breakf ast.

45. Forego morning doughnuts.
46. Plan ahead and pack a lunch f or work.
47. Use f resh parmesan cheese instead of the stuf f f rom the can.
48. Buy canned/boxed tomatoes that have “no salt added.”
49. Make your own large batch of homemade soup and f reeze any lef tovers.
50. Buy yogurts with zero artif icial ingredients.

52. Eat brown rice instead of white.
