R4 3DS - Play Snes Games On Your Nintendo 3DS
1. The R4i 3DS – The Ultimate Nintendo 3DS
Homebrew Card
From http://www.r43ds.org
2. One of the biggest things that people look to
when they consider purchasing any type of 3DS
Flash card is the ability to play classic game
console emulators and games from the 8-bit and
16-bit era. The R4i 3DS allows you to do just
that, but using the SnesDS emulator, you’ll be
playing all of the Super Nes games you used to
enjoy on your old Super Nintendo console at
home.
3. The greatest thing about the Nintendo Dsi
and the Nintendo 3DS is the ability to play
these old console games, on your new hand
held system. It really is a lot like having a
portable Super NES right in your pocket.
Ready for you to kick back and play some
Mario All Stars or Donkey Kong Country any
time you may feel like it.
How well do the games run? They run just
as well as they did on the actual Super NES
itself.
4. The screen resolution on the
Nintendo Dsi and the Nintendo 3DS
is perfectly suited for Super NES
games. IN fact, the look better
than they did on the actual TV
screen you used to play them on.
The graphics look smoother and
less pixelated. The animation in
the characters looks much more
real and fluid than if you were
playing the game on a 20 – 27”
screen. Not to mention the fact
that it is 100% portable.
5. First, you’ll need to download SnesDS, and you
can do so by visiting this link
Once you have the emulator, you’ll need to
unzip the .zip file to a folder on your computer.
Just make sure to mark down where you saved
the snesds.zip file and where you unzipped the
file.
6. The archive itself only has the snesDS.nds
file in it as shown in the image. You can
click on the EXTRACT TO button in winrar
to extract the file and save it to a location
your on computer. Once that’s done,
you’re almost there and ready to play.
You’ll now have to copy over the
snesDS.nds file to your micro SD Card. You
can order the r4i 3ds with a micro sd card
already included, or if you have your own,
copy it over to the root of your micro SD
Card. Which means, not in any folder, just
right to the card.
7. In order for you to be able to play games, you’ll need to get what’s
called a game rom. These would be super nes roms that you can
download. They are usually found in a file format such as
gamename.sfc where gamename is replaced with which ever game it is
you are getting.
You’ll want to create a SNES folder on the micro SD card as well and
copy your games to that folder.
8. All that’s left for you to do now is take your
R4 3DS or your R4 For DS card and put your
micro SD card inside of it. Then plug it into
your Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS system.
You’ll see the main menu of the R4. Select
games, and then select the SnesDS emulator
and it will load up. Once loaded, it will
show you a list of all of the games you have
in the SNES folder and you’re set. Just pick
the game you want to play and start your
journey into 16-bit console gaming. Playing
the games with the emulator is just like
playing the real thing. You can save your
games, load your save games, even save
your game in real time save mode – at any
point in any game.
