Mark Tornow is a Senior Associate at PCG Education. Mr. Tornow has over 30 years of educational systems experience, including extensive experience in school leadership, data analysis, and school improvement project management. He is currently Project Director for the Tennessee Academic Specialists program, responsible for the application, hiring, and management process to engage 125 independent contractors/educators to assist in Tennessee’s Focus schools. In the Florida Rural Turnaround Leadership Project, Mr. Tornow served as a regional facilitator and coordinator of SkoVision™ implementation in 10 rural districts focusing on strategic planning for turnaround. He also focuses on program incubation and launch, establishing systems for successful program implementation, and has worked on projects for New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and, internationally, for the European Union.

Mr. Tornow earned a Master of Education in Educational
Administration at Concordia University, Irvine, California. He
received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Concordia
Teachers College (now University) in Seward, Nebraska.

EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining PCG Education, Mr. Tornow served as Principal
of Franklin Elementary School near Nashville, Tennessee. Under
his leadership, the school was recognized by U.S. Department
of Education as an NCLB Blue Ribbon School because of its
significant improvement in student achievement, despite a high
student poverty rate; it was the only elementary school in the state
to receive this recognition in 2006. He also served as Program
Manager with the Tennessee Department of Education in the
Division of Assessment and Evaluation. Prior to that, Mr. Tornow
served as a principal, assistant principal, teacher, and coach
in a number of schools and states in both elementary and high
school settings.
