Notes de l'éditeur
I’m here to talk to you about The Friday Zone! The show’s been produced continuously since 1999, so we’re entering our 14th year. This year will also mark our 400th episode, so we average about 26 episodes each year. At its most basic, the show is an educational variety show – a local version of Zoom, with some music, skits, and characters like the original Electric Company. Here’s a look at our studio environment…
One of the coolest new things about Season 13 is that we’ve tracked the content of every episode back to Indiana Standards.
A lot of that educational component comes from our recurring series. Health, nutrition, STEM subjects, Literacy. Again, all tracking back to Indiana State Standards. But the bulk of the show is in our studio and field segments…
And here’s last year’s guests and field segments. We strive to be Indiana’s kids show, and we do our best to get around the state as much as possible.
I’ll pause here to answer any questions about the show, it’s history, or content? ….. So, how can you be a part of this?
- Production Partner: Being a financial partner with The Friday Zone allows you to take ownership of it – when the show airs on your station, you can claim it as your own, internally, with your members, at events, and with state and federal legislators. You can claim responsibility for bringing this content to your viewers and take pride in one of the nation’s only remaining locally produced children’s series. And there’s the sell to your viewers and members – you’re featuring their kids, their grandkids, their businesses on your station’s kids line-up. We’ve found this to be a powerful tool, both for membership and with marketing. And you get a lot of that marketing and brand value from us – You’ll be added to our show’s website, we will provide station-branded promos and interstitials, and possibly most important, we’ll increase our presence in your viewing area shooting segments and promoting the show.
With the interconnect launching soon, the timing is perfect for this opportunity! For IPBS, The Friday Zone is a great test of the interconnect’s capabilities in content sharing – it’s a ready to go, regularly produced series that can launch state-wide once last-mile connections are made. When explaining the interconnect to legislators, members, and other non-technical stakeholders, The Friday Zone’s syndication is a great talking point. What better way to show that the interconnect is being put to immediate use?
Now Phil will talk about what that support would look like. At the top of the show, like all our shows, “The Friday Zone is made possible in part by… The Margaret A Cargill Foundation…
Then, anyone at the full support level, gets a slide alone and an audible mention.
At the partial support level, a “group” image.
