2. How does your media product represent social
groups?
• In order to connect to the teenagers I intended on publishing to I used my model
Blaine to represent a hard working teenager who’s struggling with his life options.
One aspects of Blaine being my model for this particular magazine which shines
out most is how old he is and how relatable this is to my article and more
importantly the target market I hope my magazine will be released to.
By the use of clothes on my model and by my models facial expression, this
represents to the social groups who are interested into
hip-hop/ rap music.
• With Rap music there is no real excitement/ excessive
colours used, there is raw emotions and a sense of
anguish published onto the models faces, hence why I
have got my model to pose in this way. Another way
in which my magazine represents social groups is how
I advertised the V festival, with famous hip-hop stars
and some rap stars appearing at the V festival I used
this as a way of interacting with what my Target
market audience with stuff that they would want to read
and find out about in the magazine
3. How does your media product represent social
groups?
• In order for my media product to be represented for social groups I have tried a
story which I hoped would relate to a lot of troubled teenagers who are
experiencing somewhat of the same dilemma as my model. In this scenario I
have chosen the story of a young teenage boy who is choosing his paper round
over his music career, I feel this could relate to a lot of prosperous young
teenagers who are a fan of rap music and who are facing the same problems as
the position that my model is currently encountering. By the use of Photoshop
and other high quality programmes
I changed my image so that it could
be more relatable and more suitable
towards the story I have written. By
capturing dark skies and the sense
of anguish and pain on my models
face I have created a story which
I am hoping my target audience
will recognise and feel a sense
of sympathy towards my model.
4. How does your media product represent social
groups?
• In this Magazine I didn’t only want to represent rap
and hip-hop music but also the life of teenagers. By
using my model Blaine I have advertised towards
the social grouping of young troubled teenagers
who are trying to make something of themselves.
Due to some research I have found out that must
teenagers who listen to rap music and hip hop are
also going through the same sort of problems. By
using a good model I will hopefully attract
audiences who feel like their in the same position
as my model to purchase the magazine to
experience and analyse what he is going through.
5. How does your media product represent social
groups?
• The Mise on scene in the photo shoot is the key aspect
for the unique selling point of my magazine. In order to
represent social groups I had to dress my models in what
clothing I thought most rappers, as well as the public who
are listening to the music, would wear. As you can see in
both my contents page and my front cover my models are
both wearing hoodies that are raised over the heads, this
creates a serious, mysterious iconic figure towards the
customers and symbolises that they are people who aren't
very happy/don’t like for their faces to be seen. They type
of clothing could also represent social groups, by using a
very popular brand like Nike, as seen on the hoodie of my
front cover model Blaine, this could attract the audience
as this will give them something to relate to. Another prop
is the school clothing I got my model Scott to wear in my
contents page, this could be used to represent
sophistication and maybe to show the social groups who
purchase the magazine that even the iconic figure that’s
on the magazine is still currently at school.
6. How does your media product represent social
groups?
The Mise en scene with my Main double page spread image of Blaine really reflects
and relates to the social groups of Teenagers. Firstly we see in the background the
fence, small house, skinned trees, all things that resemble and reflect on a
rural/urban environment, these props in the background could be a key aspect to the
relationship of the photo and customer, this may be due to the fact that most of the
teenagers that purchase the magazines might be living in the same sort of rural area
that my model appears to be in. We also see a Bike in the background which is
another relatable aspect that connects the social group of teenagers towards the
magazine, this is because most teenagers are seen riding bikes around everywhere,
in gangs or just in general, which is slightly mainstream towards the target market
audience that I am referring to in my magazine.
7. How does your media product represent social
groups?
The main things that represent the social groups is how I related the stories to the
kind of things that teenagers like/ listen to. By using things like famous celebrities
stories such as Eminem, Kanye West and Wiley stories this would definitely attract
more customers in the social group of rap. By thorough research into different rap
magazines such as Vibe and The Source I was able to research the kind of music
that the teenagers who are interested in rap/Hip-hop music would like to read
about, this helped with what I thought my target market audience would want to
read and see inside of a professional music magazine.
