Digital Learning World Education Summit (WES) 2012, the world’s premier
platform on education thought leadership was jointly organized by All India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE), Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies
and Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd on 23-24 July 2012 in New Delhi.
Background:
The Summit is being co-organised by Directorate General of Employment and Training
(DGET), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India; and National
Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), National Council of Educational Research
and Training (NCERT), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).
Objectives of the Summit:
• To bring together top leadership in the field of education to assess learning in
the 21st century and debate trends in school, higher and skill education across the
globe
• To highlight innovations and best practices in education and provide a
platform for disseminating the practices
• To deliberate and share common experiences and challenges in the
implementation of education policies and reforms
• To assess technology practices and trends in education and their role in
promoting education
• To address the role of teachers in meeting learners’ diverse expectations and
needs

As part of the summit World Education conducted competitions for Digital learning awards
under various segments. Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education
(APSCHE) participated in 2nd Digital learning World Education Awards 2012 under
the category of “Best Government Sector Initiative in Education” for “APSCHE – Intel
Collaboration in Best Innovation in Education Technology for Higher Education
Institutes”. APSCHE won the Jury Choice award in this category.
