2. JMIFET – Our Current position
Project JMIFET Page 2
3. JMIFET –Where we can reach !!!
Initiatives that will help us attain the position
► Adequate web presence - Currently
faculty does not have a separate website
to showcase its potential.
► A connection to be established between
Alumni and students so that students
Top 10 have role models to look up to.
Engineering ► Clubs to be formed at JMIFET level such
Top 25 as incubation center to foster
Engineering Colleges innovations.

Colleges

4. JMIFET – Why are we lagging behind?
► Negligible web presence
► Other colleges have well updated information portals.
► JMI rarely given preference by new admissions because of this very reason(beaten easily by
comparable institutions like NSIT and DCE).
► Lack of adequate reporting(with reference to ranking surveys)
► Lacklustre attitude of students
► Lot of us crib, barely any of us take some step to help the situation we are in.
► Thankless attitude of students for not realizing the true worth of what they have received.
► A good sign is the visible change in attitude among students! Example: JMI FET Project!
► Myths surrounding the attitude of Administration
► Alumni Negligence
► Alumni are the face of the institution to the corporate world and it is their prime duty/
responsibility to ensure that companies understand the institution’s values and appreciate the
same. Institutes like IIT(s) and IIM(s) have got so much recognition in the corporate world
because of strong integrated alumni network and alumni backing their institute from time to
time.
► Absence of Alumni Advisory Board
► Board that helps out students in getting jobs/internships, acts as a mentor among other things.
Aids the faculty in terms of understanding the latest corporate world trends.

Project JMIFET Page 23
24. JMIFET Project – Faculty level Festival
“I certainly endorse the idea of having an Annual Festival. I have talked to
various technical societies active in our faculty to join hands and make
the festival a grand affair. In the very beginning of an academic year we will
release an academic as well as cultural calendar for various events like the
Fresher's Party in' odd semesters, Annual Cultural activities including Farewell
Party, Annual Function at the end of even Semester, essay writing, singing
competitions, cricket tournament between odd & even Semesters etc. There
will be one Senior Professor made responsible for smooth functioning of each
activity like Games & Sports, Cultural Activities. This all will be implemented
from the session 2004-05.”
Professor Syed Sikander Nabi in an interview to ‘Tech Times’ in the year 2004
Project JMIFET Page 24
25. JMIFET Project – Faculty level Festival
► Why we need it?
► One of the best marketing tools at hand
► Helps market the college among college goers and corporate world alike
► Gives students a sense of pride and brings out patriotic feelings about being a JMI’ite
► Excellent learning experience for both organizers and participants from JMI FET
► Current Status
► Societies functioning in FET organize festival at an individual level
► IEEE JMI organizes ‘ENCOMIUM’
► CSI organizes ‘Algorythm’
► Other societies in the process of coming up with their own festivals
► Efforts are split
► Comparison between us and others
► IIT Delhi ‘Rendezvous’ – 40-50 lacs
► NSIT ‘Moksha’ – 20-25 lacs
► DCE ‘Troika’ – 20-25 lacs
► IEEE JMI ‘ENCOMIUM’ and CSI JMI ‘Algorythm’ – 2 – 2.5 lacs each
Project JMIFET Page 25
26. JMIFET Project – Faculty level Festival
► Strengths and Weaknesses
► Strengths
► Organizational skills applauded by majority participants
► Excellent usage of funds at hand, howsoever less they maybe
► Weaknesses
► Poor publicity and reach
► Efforts distributed due to each society trying to organize its own festival at an individual level
► Terrible sponsorship money collection(Boils down to brand image)
► Need of the hour
► Societies across faculty to join hands and work towards a joint festival
► Most faculties across JMI have a single festival while JMI FET has two
► Structure similar to FET Web Portal to be instituted headed by Dean, JMI FET
► Can be assisted by all societies existent in JMI FET
► Work done till date
► IEEE JMI has accepted this proposal which includes both the Executive Committee and Branch
Counselor
► Things did not materialize with CSI JMI even after a month of talks
