LIBRARY STARS VERSUS BULLY CHIEF OF THE LIBRARY ORGANIZATION
Advanced Release!
Chewable Quote for the Month of April, 2013, 4th Part of a Second Series
… delights not in setting eyes on putting a crown over heads of library customers passing by
but in fixing her headdress constantly.
It pays while you make stars out of each who drops by the library. A grade school pupil few days ago
asked, “Teacher, why do you have food in the library? Is it coke or iced tea? “Have some,”
the teacher-librarian replied as she introduced guests attending a meeting to the young girl.
She’s articulate, speaks her mind, a little star of the library and who frequents and treats the library as
her second home. To everyone, she’s the library team’s motivation for high work performance.
She sets the stage on fire for everyone’s involvement and her absence causes brainstorming meetings run dry.
On the other hand, a bully chief does like snatching the crown away from the library stars.
Also, she’s never happy about library personnel having winning streaks from time to time. How do you spot a
bully chief in the library organization?
fault-finding is her second skin, in her genes;
a fault creator herself;
uses her circle of friends and colleagues to find faults;
spots faults immediately and uses them wisely to her advantage;
creates faults in you;
can’t explain why she describes them as faults;
hides after fault-finding
The Penguin Librarians’ Bully Talk:
Penguin says (doesn’t have a crown): Are you sick?
Penguin says (has a crown): Why?
Penguin says: Aren’t you ashamed?
Penguin says: For what?
Penguin says: You are a headstrong.
Penguin says: Probably, not?
Penguin says: Shame on you.
Penguin says: Any problem. I’ll help you and see what I can do.
Penguin says: Oh, really!
A bully chief is harmful to library stars and personnel. She deliberately does not elicit a “safe zone” for
free dialogue, not bent on listening to honest nor invite differences of opinion. She judges and criticizes
immediately.
She, the chief of the library organization, who bullies around, overtly, has superiority complex.
