Assess the budget that you have been assigned and determine how much you will
have to spend on rent, utilities (if not included in rent), miscellaneous and savings.
You are required to delegate an amount of money for miscellaneous expenses, and
you should plan to save a percentage of your personal income. Be realistic and honest
with yourself! You know how much you typically spend on miscellaneous expenses, and
this assignment will help you understand where you will be able to cut expenses and
luxuries if necessary.
Visit the website at www.icgov.org/offcampus/index.htm. Scroll down the page to
the “Money” section of the Off Campus Living Guide. Review the three parts to this
section to gain helpful insight and skills for living on your own.
Visit the website at www.northerncoloradorentals.com. Go to the “Find a Rental” link
at the top of the page. You will then fill out the information on the next page
according to your budget and assignment requirements. Search the options that are
provided for the best housing accommodations.
Once you have chosen your living accommodations, you will create a presentation to
share with the class on your findings and explain why the two of you have chosen the
option that you have. A visual aid is required for the presentation, and you may
choose to use Power Point, a poster, or a handout to outline your findings for the
rest of the class.
