2. Lack of water in the world. Every day 4,500 children in the world die as a result of lack of clean water. There are still 1100 million people on the planet who do not have access to water.

3. Nearly 1.6 million children under five years died in 2005 because they didn’t have drinking water or minimal conditions of hygiene, leading to diarrhea or infectious diseases, ending with their lives. In 1999 only 64% of the global population had access to drinking water, while in 2005 this figure reached 73%. With regard to sanitation, it went from 26 to 39% respectively. In the world there are still 1100 million people who lack access to safe drinking water, this means they do not have water piped into their homes, nor sources close to wells or drinking water in their cities or at least a system for the collection and purification of rainwater .

6. The impact of the Construction Industry on water. As a result of the construction process,water may contain: Suspended substances that can affect the proper functioning of the sewerage network. Dissolved substances which, despite being necessary for the development of an activity contracted, can alter the initial conditions (pH, temperature, composition, etc.) Impairing quality of the environment in the case of spilling contaminated fluids into the soil or water. It is necessary to ensure that there is no direct nor indirect seepage into the public water system of sewerage which, despite having been initially treated, exceeds the limits of pollution established by the law!

To solve this problem, the Water Policy requires sprecific measures: · Ensuring the supply of drinking water . · Ensuring the supply of water for other economic purposes . · P rotecting the environment. · R educing the consecuences of floods and droughts. · Improving the quality of water and ecosystems. · Preventing any supplementary degradation. · Promoting sustainable water use. · Reducing progressively emissions of dangerous substances. · Protecting oceans. · Achieving the objectives of international agreements.

22. In short: We have made a PowerPoint presentation. We have distributed brochures on saving water, to sensitize the people. We have made pictures of people working with the cause. We have made a poster for an exhibition. We have made a lively Web page, so people can learn more about how to deal with water in a better way . People have held and carried our Poster of protest. We have learned many things. We have published videos of our campaign on the Internet, including the hosting service YouTube .
