5. SIGNIFICANCE OF SEVA / PUJA
SUPRABHAT
Suprabhat' is the first and foremost seva / puja for Lord Balaji. Suprabhat signifies the ritual
performed to wake up the Lord from his celestial sleep, amidst chanting of the hymns. Every day in
the early hours Acharya Purushas sing the hymns beginning with 'Kausalya Supraja Rama'.
'Suprabhatam' hymn consist of Suprabhatam, Stotram and other Balaji Hymns.The Darshan of the
Lord during'Suprabhat’ Seva is a Delightful Experience and worship of the lord during Suprabhat is
considered highly meritorious.
SHRINGAAR SEVA
The Deity of Lord Balaji, is exquisitely decorated with various types of floral and tulsi garlands during
this seva. ‘Shringaar' denotes the decoration of the deities with garlands. Along with the decoration of
Lord Balaji, hymns and Mantras are chanted and it is a magnificent spectacle to see Lord Balaji
divinely decorated and it is considered very lucky to see the Lord in this seva and the wishes of his
Bhakts are fulfilled when praying to him in this seva.
ABHISHEKH
Abhishekam is done on Friday to Lord Balaji first with water brought from Akasaganga. The holy
water is poured on the Deity through a conch covered with gold. After that the Deity is bathed in milk,
followed again in water. Then the Lord is anointed with mixture of chandana, saffron and refined
camphor. It is followed with a bath in water. The holy Charna amrita is collected in a silver vessel for
later distribution to devotees. After that the Goddess on God's chest receives abhisheka. Abhisheka
is traditionally done to the chanting of very special vedic hymns. To view and worship lord Balaji in
this seva is a blissful and fulfilling experience.
VASTRABHUSHAN SEVA
This Seva is a part of Abhishekh.and considered a very affluent seva.Devotees can offer a silk sari
and Silk Dothi and even have a glimpse of it being draped on the deity. only the first sari offered
would be adorned to the main deity. seva is performed with the deity of Lord Balaji and his Consorts
Goddess laxmi and Goddess Padmavati along with Adthisesha, Garuda and Hanuman. This seva is
very much sought after by Bhakts of Balaji, laxmi, Ram, Hanuman, adtishesha and is a very powerful
seva as pujas is offered to the deity of Lord Balaji along with Goddess Laxmi, Padmavati, Hanuman,
Garuda and adthisesha.

6. SAHASRANAMA PUJA ARCHANA
Archana to the deity of Lord Balaji is performed amidst chanting of one thousand name
of the Lord. This occurs immediately after 'Suprabhat' and Shingaar seva. The Priests
offer tulsi leaves at the Lotus Feet of the Lord while one thousand names of the Lord are
chanted Later, the tulsi leaves are placed at the Lotus Feet of Godess Lakshmi seated in
his chest amidst chanting of 'Mahalakshmi Chaturvimsati' (24 names of the Goddess).
This seva is considered to very auspicious and powerful. Those participating in this seva
are said to be fulfilled with all their wishes.
VISHESH BHOG SEVA
Every Thursday morning “Vishesh Bhog Seva “ takes place for the Lord. This service
consist of cooking a large quantity of rice as pulihora and offering it to the Lord along
with other sweet preparations such as payasam, laddu, jilebi, appam etc. The cooked rice
is heaped up in a definite customary pyramid trapezoid shape and the delicacies are
deposited thereon with coconuts, flowers, sandal paste, kumkum, deepam and is offered
to the Lord with appropriate mantras.
SHREE BALAJI KALYAN UTSAV
Balaji Kalyan utsav is the Grand Marriage Celebration of Lord Balaji to consorts Goddess
Laxmi and Goddess Padmavati. This Seva conducted on special occasions are found in
the inscriptions of the 15th century. The wedding ceremony is held amidst recitation of
the Vedic mantras and the priests perform homas and the purohits conducts the
marriage and an archaka is consecrated to perform other rituals on behalf of the
bridegroom. This is the most sought after seva among the newly weds and it is a spell
binding experience to see the Balaji kalyan utsav and every couple and family is blessed
for his whole life time by witnessing this seva.

7. BALAJI ARJITA BRAHMOTSAV
This Seva is conducted after the kalyan utsav. The seva is performed with the deity of Lord Balaji
and his Consorts Goddess laxmi and Goddess Padmavati along with Adthisesha, Garuda and
Hanuman. This seva is very much sought after by Bhakts of Balaji, laxmi, Ram, Hanuman,
adtishesha and is a very powerful seva as pujas is offered to the deity of Lord Balaji along with
Goddess Laxmi, Padmavati, Hanuman, Garuda and adthisesha.
ARJITA VASANTH UTSAV
The seva is offered to Lord Balaji and his consorts Laxmi and Padmavati. Perfumeries are lavishly
used to create an ethereal atmosphere.The Pandits chants Purusha suktam, Sri Suktam and other
vedic hymns. Abhishekam is done to the Lord and His consorts with sacred water. Later abhishekam
is performed with milk, curd, honey and turmeric. Finally, sandal paste is applied to Lord Balaji and
his consorts
DEEPALANKRIT SEVA
Deepalankrit seva is performed on Lord Balaji along with Laxmi and Padmavati and one Thousand
wick lamps are lit in this seva in the midst of vedic chanting and singing of kirtanas and it is a
heavenly sight to see the Lord amongst the lit lamps. The people participating in this seva are a
blessed and a lucky lot as all their wishes to Lord Balaji will be answered when praying in this seva.
SHAYAN SEVA
Shayan Seva is the last ritual among the daily sevas. All the darsan comes to a close with Shayan
Seva. During Shayan seva, the acharyas sings lullabies to put the Lord to sleep. Poetess
Venkamamba’s harati (in a plate inlaid with one of the dasavataras on each day with pearls) is
offered to the Lord. Those participating in this seva get a blissful blessings from Lord Balaji and any
wish of the Bhakts in this seva is happily fulfilled by the Lord.
