  1. Listening without intent isn’t a strategy. It’s not even a tactic. It’s just legal eavesdropping.
  2. There are two kinds of customers: those who pay you to keep doing your thing and those you can help along the way an will say nice things about you. Hopefully these groups overlap, but both are important regardless. The first funds your work, the second expands your reach tremendously. And it's really not difficult to be helpful. It's fun, personally rewarding and often yields great insights on participating in the human experience.
