3. As we expected to hear from our target audience, the whole sample of people said that the teaser trailer fits the conventions of the action genre very well. However, the reason for this were different as people analyzed the teaser trailer from different perspectives. Some of the reasons were: The use of weapons, explosives and fights scenes complimented the actions of the characters well. This therefore keeps the audience guessing as to what may happen next, building suspense and intensity.
4. The use of car chases was effective because it is a form of action which shows that the film is going to be fast paced and unpredictable as an action should be. The use of hostages being kept and strapped with bombs fits the conventions as it raises even more awareness and unpredictability as to whether they will be saved, killed or even escape. The non-diegetic score is fast paced leading up to fight scenes, therefore the actions on screen such as the fights are complimented nicely with the sound. It is conventional therefore we feel that these conventions combine together, exploring the aspects of a action genre.
5. Again as we expected the whole of the sample agreed that the magazine cover was conventionally structured. The reasons for this varied from the use of teasers attracting others to view inside the rest of the magazine to the use of a Masthead which we called ‘Cinematic.’ As well as this the use of a splash, ‘Adcock and Brunton are Hunted” and simple features like the price and barcode also allowed the audience to distinguish this from the poster. This we feel was a result of in depth research into the conventions of form of an action magazine cover.
