computer, telephone, etc.) or remove
yourself from them.
Write down urgent tasks and then forget
about them.
Command your soul to focus on God

Worship the Lord through singing, reading
a psalm or just thanking God.

you through His word.

Him.
Ask Him to clarify His word to you so that
you can understand it clearly and apply it
personally.
Wait on His presence before you proceed.

understand what God may be saying to you.
Write down your thoughts on your journal.
Write freely and spontaneously.
11. Example of a Meditation
Text:
Ephesians 1:3 “Praise be to the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has
blessed us in the heavenly realms with
every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
God’s message to me:
I must always be grateful to God for all that
He has given me in Christ Jesus, because
He has given me every spiritual blessing I
would ever need. Praise God!
12. Pray accordingly
Write in your journal a prayer based on
what you have heard from God’s word.
◦ Example: “Lord, thank you for all that you have
given me in Christ Jesus. Help me to be always
grateful to you and to never forget what you
have done for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Pray the prayer.
◦ You can add more words in your actual prayer.
13. Listen for the application
Ask God to help you apply His message in
a specific area of your life.
Think of a past, present or future
situation. Ask yourself, “How does this
message apply to MY situation?”
Write your application in your journal.
Example: “I will practice saying ‘thank
you’ to the Lord for saving me every time
I wake up and before I sleep for at least
seven days or until it becomes a habit for
me.”
14. End with thanksgiving
Thank God for speaking to you.
Thank God for helping you to understand
and apply His message.
Thank God for allowing you to experience
His presence, power and purpose.
Ask Him to use you so you can share this
message with others.
◦ Example: with your family, friend, small group,
mentor, etc.
Sing a song of praise if you want to.
