6. The Moon
The nightlight of the
Darkness
surrounding
Casts a shadow on our planet
Sometimes a ball of cheese,
other times a crescent roll from Starbucks.
7. In the poem “The Moon” I used two
Metaphors. I thought of how the moon is
sometimes orange, and then I thought of
how it was a crescent, and then I thought
it would be cool to say it was from
“Starbucks.”
9. In this poem, “Nighttime” I used
Personification. I thought how the moon
was soothing, so I said that he was
singing a lullaby to us to help us fall
asleep.
10. I’m an Astronaut
Stepping
up
to the Moon.
First footprints,
Feeling floaty...
Bubbly inside me,
Look down, my home.
11. In here, I just used the moon to think of
different things that people did with the
moon, and then I thought of an
astronaut!
12. Craters
Craters, craters
In the Moon.
Popping in,
Looking up.
Showing pizazz,
to the planet.
Orbiting around like a baseball.
13. What I did here is the same with what I
did with the Astronaut poem. I thought
of things that were related to the moon,
and I thought of Craters!
14. Chocolate Planets
Mars is a Mars bar, don’t you see?
Milky, and Caramel.
What else could it be?
Onto the Milkyway,
Still Milky and Caramel.
Back down to Earth-
Dove’s are Milk Chocolate!
15. Here, I just decided to make a poem
about this. I thought that it was cool that
they made chocolate bars and candy, and
named them by the planets!
16. Hanging Moon
The moon,
Seems like it’s hanging
by a string.
Twirling, whirling
Round and round.
So light, so heavy.
hanging by a string.
17. I used repetition here. I thought it
seemed awesome to visualize the moon
hanging by a string, and so I made a
poem about it!

The Moon is a great Anthology Theme, because it’s very basic, and you
can think up a lot of poems for that certain theme. Also, a lot of things
are related to the moon, so that helps, too! In some of my poems, ideas
just popped into my head, like the Craters, Chocolate Planets, and the
“I’m an Astronaut.” I learned a lot of things: Like how many ideas you
can get from just the Moon! I also learned that I like non-rhyming poems
better than rhyming poems, because I can express my thoughts better.
When I write non-rhyming poems, the words just fly across the paper,
and I get so many ideas. Rhyming poems take concentration and
thinking, because you have to think of a million words to rhyme with
the word before it.
